Drake feat. The-Dream – Shut It Down

38630PCN_Katsuya

This leaked yesterday with obnoxious “Sample Clearance Only” tags, but someone managed to get rid of them.

Off Thank Me Later, but earlier today Omen (the track’s producer,) said this is the unfinished version. Shout to Angel for getting mentioned by Terius on this shit.

NY has to re-establish our brand of Hip-Hop. With everybody trying to appeal to these other regions, what made our artists and our sound unique has been lost.
    ———-

it wont happen cause it wont sell..

labels and distributors only sell, promote, and push hook driven trash with worldly and easy to digest or subliminal messages …

intricate and well developed wordplay is discarded and is rendered useless in the labels’ single minded desire to make money while sending out purposeful(for THEM) frequencies and messages …

Sounds like another BIEH moment to me.

  31. why? Says:

This dude is gonna sell 400K maybe 500K but will fade away throughout the next few years on features and mediocre releases. By the end of this decade man who honestly knows where Hip Hop is gonna be. People in the future are gonna go into some virtual reality shit and try to stop Pac or Big from getting shot or smacking the bottle from Yeezys hand but they gonna come back to reality and only be able to reminisce on the moments that defined this genre. Doubt most the rappers or sing a long money makers from this and last decade who aren’t Lu, Ye, Jay Elec , and similar rappers will be remembered. The whole genre probably had a bigger impact on the kids in the last 30 years than The Beatles and yeah it contributed to the dumbing down of society but this shit is and always will be a form art.

  33. LaneKiffin*CainSniffin*LaneSwitchin Says:

that shit played bout 30 sec and i had heard enough. Drake can spit lethal when he wants too, but being on young money and caring more about sales and popularity than he does great music and longevity is why i’ve already kinda written him off. He’s starting to have that try-to-please-everybody lil wayne syndrome. You rappin or you singin homie?

  34. DJ BLACK Says:

have you noticed how So Far Gone is one of the only projects from dude people talk about? THIS GUY IS NOT THAT GUY and also SO FAR GONE IS NOT THAT TAPE.

File Under ” Degrassi, Show-Biz, Black teenie boppers, TRL on BET, what the fuck happened to the game, overrated mainstream marketing, sell out, wack, Fischer Price my first rhymes, not doing much for the culture, etc”

  35. AmpGeez a.k.a. Smoke Greene Says:

    =======================
    He can do both.

But he needs to really do him (i.e. So Far Gone) and not fall victim to the machine.

  46. Harlem World Says:

    @ shemesh

Chill, Just looking at how hes being forced to treat the situation with Iran and Palestine, I can tell Obama is not in charge….thats not anti-semitism either.

But U.S doesn’t need to meddle around in the middle east..and it especially doesnt need to run to Israel’s distress calls.

So just from that I can see how AIPAC runs this shit. Because Israel produces nothing for this country, so why the huge interest? We show know interest in foreign affairs unless AIPAC say so. Maybe Obama can only do so much..but we must accept that AIPAC runs this shit first.

And his plan to add more troops to Afghanistan left me disappointed. I have family deployed over there, but obviously there lives are far too insignificant for the govt to give a shit about bringing them home.

Anyway, no more politics for now, it gets me aggy sometimes.

Jay coulda been did a video for A Star is Born.

  85. why? Says:

If Pac was still here Kanye would’ve kept being the CD and LR Ye (not sure on this), Drake would still be on Degrassi, New Orleans would’ve fallen off the map around the early 2000′s, 50 would be making actual Hip Hop, and he would’ve been on 2001 and we would already have Detox.

1)woot has a couple netbooks with accessories today for about 269

    2) your life will be much more enjoyable if you learn the power of the word “and” and get off the word “or.”. You can like Blu “and” Souja Boy, collard greens “and” caviar, Air Max’s “and” Florsheims. You can even like Kanye “and” Taylor Swift. (although i personally don’t, lol). Some of this “or” stuff has been the downfall of civilizations. You don’t lose for having broad cultural tastes.

The next level is understanding you can be well educated, well spoken, and well off and still be authentically black, or be patriotic and still be a proud American. Until people understand “and” and get off “or” in situations where “or” is not necessary, they’ll be trapped in a prison of their own making.

If Drake signed a 360 deal, I don’t see why the label wouldn’t force the sales of Thank Me Later through to Wayne-Kanye levels.

When an artists is that big, endorsement deals flood in, the tour money is a lot better as more people show up to a gig for an artist they think is big, etc. And advertisers already like Drake’s clean image. You have to imagine it’d be a good investment in the long run for the label.

Then again, I think Drake will do close to Wayne numbers without any help.

I know NO female who knows who J. Cole is in real life. I know two GUYS who know him, and one of them was a Lupe stan I told about J. Cole.

You need females to get as big as Drake, and yes that’s what sets him apart from Kanye or Jay.

Wayne got girls with Lollipop, Drake has girls with Best I Ever Had, and other songs. That’s why someone like Drake can be so big and not really admired by hip hop heads, while someone like Kanye is just as big, but he’s a huge deal for heads. Even ones that aren’t fans of Ye repect his relevance to hip hop as they grew up appreciating it.

Drake is not that kind of rapper, and yes having most of your fans as females and kids is a big part of it. Wayne sort of fell into this trap post 2008, but hopefully he gets his shit together.

i think alot of the reason niggas dont feel drake is bcuz his background. Hip hop originated in the streets and it has always had the rebel element to it. Drakes not a rebel, drake didnt struggle 2 survive growin up. He’s a spoiled, silver spoon gourmet meal fed kid. He’s used to havin things. Niggas in the hood cant relate to this cat not 1 bit. Yea he can rap good, real good but he’s just good at the act of rapping. He cant make street niggas who out here strugglin to pay the rent feel his message like that. I respect Dre making his money in the tech. industry but dude needs to realize his opinion would probably make things different. Shit even an actual Detox leak would help. I thought OBFCL2 was gonna suck after all these years and I was wrong. Maybe Detox will be the same.

  323. Tong Po Flo Says:

i think alot of the reason niggas dont feel drake is bcuz his background. I really dont think Drake can touch the hood like that, sorry. J Cole speaks on the struggle and i can relate to songs he makes more than i can drake talkin bout aston martins and shit

^ This is exactly why I listen to J Cole more than Drake
