This dude is gonna sell 400K maybe 500K but will fade away throughout the next few years on features and mediocre releases. By the end of this decade man who honestly knows where Hip Hop is gonna be. People in the future are gonna go into some virtual reality shit and try to stop Pac or Big from getting shot or smacking the bottle from Yeezys hand but they gonna come back to reality and only be able to reminisce on the moments that defined this genre. Doubt most the rappers or sing a long money makers from this and last decade who aren’t Lu, Ye, Jay Elec , and similar rappers will be remembered. The whole genre probably had a bigger impact on the kids in the last 30 years than The Beatles and yeah it contributed to the dumbing down of society but this shit is and always will be a form art.

If Drake signed a 360 deal, I don’t see why the label wouldn’t force the sales of Thank Me Later through to Wayne-Kanye levels.
When an artists is that big, endorsement deals flood in, the tour money is a lot better as more people show up to a gig for an artist they think is big, etc. And advertisers already like Drake’s clean image. You have to imagine it’d be a good investment in the long run for the label.
Then again, I think Drake will do close to Wayne numbers without any help.

50 wanted Dre to come out against Game with him, but when Dre stayed mum, it was a sign of disloyalty to 50 (who at the time was arguably bigger then Em). I don’t think anyone could expect Drake and The Dream to come out with a weak track, but I mean after all the talk about Drake going in with the mission of recording a classic hip-hop album (mind you, Drake said all this in his own words) an album with nothing but in your face lyrics + examples of why he is the leader of Rap’s new generation of emcee’s, and then he leaks 2 fairly simple, albeit catchy examples that flash more of his R&B side..

months ago, i heard about “over” and “a dream joint” as the first two drake singles. i expected “over” was going to be the straight up rap joint that i was going to dig, and the other to be the ladies/club record that i would hear half of and delete from my computer forever….
