It’s difficult to distinguish if this minute-long Season Premiere is the beginning of a ploy to promote Russell Simmons’ branded products (besides his website) such as the RushCard… or if it’s a part of what seemed to be some pretty humorous stuff in the webseries’ trailer starring the always funny Affion Crockett.
Either way, time will tell. Tune in every Wednesday for a new episode.

ehh. I disagree. No doubt some slave owners tried to use it, but if you look at the black church from 1900 on, it became a powerful social force. Insurance companies, funeral homes, construction companies, restaurants, schools, and more came out of the black church. Google AG Gaston. Not to mention a gang of civil rights leaders and black liberation theology. That’s just the empirical stuff.

yeah, and alot of those civil rights leaders would be disgusted if they saw what the Black church has become. that organization has become poison to the Black community. back in the 1900’s the Black church was utilized as a tool for the survival of the race in America. now, the tool has become abused and outdated, yet the need to survive is as necessary (if not more so) than it was back then for Blacks in America.

Speaking from personal experience, my church, which isn’t one of those TV megachurches, just teamed up with two other local churches and dropped $100,000 on Haiti. Not to mention, supplied the food for an orphanage in Honduras for 3 years and helps people out who are in need locally, like behind on mortgages and facing eviction or hungry. Not to mention the blood drives, food giveaways, and college field trips and SAT prep advice for college students. We get a year end financial report too, so we know where the money goes. We have more current and ex drug dealers and felons that attend than you’d probably imagine. I’m just saying, I don’t know what part of that the old guard would be embarassed about.

Honestly, as long as you pick something unique and relevant to your life/yourself, it shouldn’t matter if it becomes irrelevant later on in life. It’ll still be meaningful in a sort of nostalgic way, like you know what place your life was in and shit when you got the tat.
Of course this is coming from a guy who has no plans of getting a tat himself, so take it with a grain of salt, I guess.
