This is the first single from Aziz & Dave Sitek’s RAAAAAAAANDY mixtape.

Pure genius!

We posted a rough version yesterday that Kanye accidentally leaked on his blog. We were asked to take that down until they send a final, which they just did. You’ll notice this has a few different different jokes, particularly the Eminem & Drake bits.

The order is still the same though, he’s still demanding verses from: Kid Cudi, Jay-Z, Ludacris, Drake, RZA & GZA, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Clipse, MF DOOM, Mos Def, and Kanye

Shouts to Dave Sitek (who did the beat) & Aziz Ansari for sending us the final version.

Hey L.A. Reid, the 80′s called…

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

shyne-la-belize

…and they want their blissfully oblivious executives back.

UPDATE: Here’s the video of L.A. talking to the local press in Belize.

News 7 out of Belize is reporting that LA Reid flew down there in a private jet to secure Mr. Barrow’s signature on his (allegedly) hefty new Def Jam contract. Not for nothing, but this is the type of excessive shit that has the music industry in the state it’s in now. Really? You couldn’t have just faxed the shit down there? After a quick perusal of  these two links , I’d (conservatively) estimate the cost of this little publicity stunt at somewhere around $25,000 and that’s not even including the flight back and incidentals. And let’s not even talk about the environmental impact.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that IDJ is gonna end up regretting this whole agreement. I don’t even think they’re gonna recoup the cost of this excursion, much less that ridiculous contract.  What year do they think it is? And what artist do they have Shyne confused with? Last time I checked, Godfather Buried Alive only went Gold and that was with a whole big attempted murder trial and conviction that involved Puff and Jennifer Lopez. I’d like to see how the marketing department plans on topping that in this day and age.

Hey look, I know this trip won’t bankrupt Def Jam, and I’m sure they have a budget for this type of fuckery (no doubt to be indirectly charged back to Shyne somehow), but it’s the principle of the thing. What kind of message does this send? If I’m a stockholder and I see this type of shit I have to wonder what these guys are doing with my money.

My guestimate of the first week #s for Shyne’s comeback album:  30K.

Video: Kanye West – Coldest Winter

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Directed by Nabil Elderkin, who told MTV earlier today that unlike their previous videos together (“Paranoid,” “Welcome To Heartbreak,”) Kanye was not involved in the editing process and was only presented a final version for approval.

Like the Paranoid video, this video has a new/different mix than the album version.

“This is definitely more of a haunting one. ‘Cause this is sort of a remix… This one he got into his production a little bit more.”
