Video: Lord Finesse on Big L’s Murder (Full)
Lord Finesse and OGee of DITC speak with Media Gasface about L’s passing.
The building you see behind Ogee (at 0:56) has been Lamont Coleman’s home for the fast 24 years he lived : 104W 139th Street. The park where we stand is the place where he used to hang out and rhyme at with his friends from the Children of the Corn (COC) crew : Cam’ron, Ma$e, McGruff and Bloodshed.
11 years ago, at 8:30 pm, Big L was shot and killed a block away from here, on 45 W 139th . In the heart of what he used to call the Danger Zone.

Ay yo My crew be deliverin hot lead when gats are clenched
Rappers I jack and lynch
Nobody can fuck with the way I be killing the shit in rap events
Big L is the nigga you expect
To catch wreck in any cassette deck
I’m so ahead of my time, my parents haven’t met yet
I’m feeling like Billy Bathgate
My rap style is past great
I love to fuck a bitch from the back and watch her ass shake
I probably got your mommy strung
Niggaz hear me and take more notes than Connie Chung
My clan plans to get Guillianni hung
Never had a gassed head
Got loot cause I stash bread
Try to tax and I’ma beat your fagot ass half-dead
I stomp white cops till the life stops
For a low price hops
Cause my blood is colder than an ice box
RIP L
TOP 5 EMCEE EVER. Up there with Nas, GZA, Pac and Rakim.

Make sure my mic is loud and my production is tight/ better watch me round your girl if you ain’t fucking her right
RIP Big L
Someone said in one of the other drops they’d feel bad posting some new kid after a late great, how true that is. Big L’s freestyles, where he’s actually just flowing off top as opposed to spitting a written, were legendary.
Second only to the GOAT Biggie.

His verse on D.I.T.C.’s “Day One” is probably my favorite: “I went from standin’ on the corner sellin’ cocaine, to rippin’ shows – live on stage w/ hoes yellin’ my name…”
