Cookin’ Soul – Big Pun x J Dilla = Big Dilla (Mixtape)
It was bound to happen. Ever since J Dilla passed, people have found themselves celebrating his birthday at the same time as they were mourning Big Pun passing away 10 years ago.
A few years ago, J. Period tried his hand at this and it sounded surprisingly good. Cookin’ Soul have taken on difficult tasks before, such as putting deceased rappers over their own beats, or even throwing The Game on a song with Jay-Z, but this time around they face what seems like the impossible: matching the vocals from the deceased rapper Big Pun with beats from the late producer J Dilla.
They dropped the first leak last night and it was far from wack.
