alright. Hard drives are formatted into one of two different file systems: FAT32 or NTFS. They both have their pros\cons, most of which I dont know. PS3 only works with FAT32 drives. The problem with FAT32 is that you cannot store any file over 4.0 gigs, and 720p or 1080p movies can be anywhere from 8-18 gigs… So you either have to split your movies into 4 gig sections using some sort of splitter program or do what I do..
I have two 1 terabyte drives (NTFS drives) that are hooked up to my PC.. I add the movies and shows I want to watch to my windows media player library and set it to enable streaming. Then I go to my ps3 and up pops my windows media player media server and I am able to stream movies directly from my PC to my PS3 over my home network, bypassing the 4 gig limitation

straight up.. Ive downloaded movies that are like 12-15 gig. I downloaded the entire 5 seasons of the wire off one torrent.. I think that was like 19 or 20 gigs… If its a torrent, I just let it go in the backround and forget about it..Alot of times I’ll set like 4 movies to DL overnight
