Jay spoke alot of truth on takeover, that one hot album line is a fact (depending on which of nas first two albums you feel is a classic) And going by the fans back in the 90′s (before internet chatrooms a.k.a blogs) Nas only really dropped one hot album within those 4, so yeah, that line holds some type of truth.
It’s now that we can debate stuff like this with people from all across the country, but at that time, it was well known that nas never lived up to his own hype
February 1st, 2010 at 10:15 pm
>>Why you think nas dropped 2 albums that same year? Heavy bootlegging (sp) same reason why “murda muzik” got pushed way back,

^People actually belived that, and it kinda holds some truth to it, when you got Hov, someone who’s albums gotten better (depending on who you talk to), sold more albums with every outing saying that, the fans are gonna look at nasir’s track record. and NY fans held illmatic as the best lp to ever come out in the history of rap, it’s no where else to go but down, and from IWW, to I am, to Nastradamus, his shit declined, now was other albums wack? Hell no, but it was a step down each album, there’s no debating this, while you can argue that Hov’s albums got better, they damn sure sold more, which he based the battle on. And I kinda co-sign jay on that statement, nas really only dropped one hot album in the 90′s , nah, he dropped 2, the other was doo

R&B singer Ginuwine says he was tricked into signing a contract with a record company that doesn’t exist.
In a lawsuit filed in Manhattan’s state Supreme Court, the ‘So Anxious’ singer says he was persuaded to sign on May 8, 2007, with King Music Group Inc., a company that a personal acquaintance, Michael Bourne of Memphis, Tenn., said he owned.
Terms of the contract gave Ginuwine, whose real name is Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, $1.75 million to record his first album with King, including a $500,000 advance, according to court papers. In nearly five months, the singer hasn’t made any records and hasn’t been paid a cent, the lawsuit said.
In addition, the lawsuit said, there is no corporate record for King Music Group Inc. anywhere in New York, California, Florida or Tennessee.
The lawsuit accuses King Music and Bourne of breach of contract, fraud and negligent misrepresentation. It asks for a total of $4 million in damages.
Ginuwine’s lawyer, Corey D. Boddie, said Thursday that his client is now unable to record anywhere else. He said the singer could be sued if he made records for another company while under contract to King.

^^^ether broke Jayz’s spirit. He went from dissing Nas’s catalog on takeover to talking about fucking his baby mom’s..lol That was some hoe shit, he was hurt not to mention the majority of folks in Ny was backing nas after ether dropped. That has to hurt if you are the so called king of ny.
^^^
Ehhhh, I think niggas WANTED to see little homie win that battle, just off little homie being “less successful” than Camel (popularity wise). I mean, people forget that many NY’s had more invested in little homies music based strictly off Illmatic, and after (at the time) musical duds lt Was Written, The Firm, and I Am, people were writing Little Homie off. Camel, on the other hand, took advantage of Bigs death and blew the fuck up, but he assumed that NY was riding with him. You know that nigga was shocked when the votes came backin favor of Little Homie.
I mean, if you are going song for song, Takeover was better structured, and I think if Camel didn’t waste a verse on Prodigy, he probably would have finished little homie off. Ether (however grossly misleading and lacking in actual facts) was just filled with enough energy to overpower any actual shortcomings it may have contained musically.
