Video: Rebirth Ad Reminds Lil Wayne Fans

Friday, January 29th, 2010

In case it had been too long since Lil Wayne released something for his fans to identify was his (and pay for,) Island Records just put up this minute-long Rebirth advert that doesn’t use songs featured on Rebirth for 80% of it. There’s Lollipop, A Millie, Mrs. Officer (all on Tha Carter III,) Jay Sean’s “Down,” and just when you thought the ad was over, there’s “On Fire,” which is on Rebirth – but that’s it for new songs.

The ad also doubles as a reminder to fans of Lil Wayne’s accomplishments, for the most part with Tha Carter III: Continue reading this post…

Video: Lupe Fiasco Talks Leaks, Lasers, Mixtapes

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Lupe spoke to MTV and cleared the air on a couple topics. Firstly he says that he had plans to do a follow-up to the Enemy of the State mixtape, called “Friend of the People” – but he since found out that some of his songs from Lasers might leak and decided against it. He also says that he had to tell DJ Absolut not to drop that mixtape right now. He felt there might be too much of his music out right now.

Hit the jump to see Lupe perform I’m Beamin’ for the first time, live at The Shrine in Chicago.

Another one for the Budden/Cardim collection. Unlike the previous warm-up leaks, this one actually was meant for his third LP, The Great Escape, but it’s being leaked now due to clearance issues.

Expect more collabs from the two on TGE & J. Cardim’s Dice Music: The In Crowd.

Video: Rick Ross Talks John Legend Collabo For Teflon Don

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Rawse tells MTV News that Teflon Don will have another John Legend collabo, after the success of “Magnificent.” The track is called “Sweet Life,” with a video on the way. He says it’ll drop after Mafia Music 2 w/ Chrisette Michele.

I thoroughly enjoyed Deeper Than Rap(‘s production,) but damn. These movie sequels are too much… And the same single order too? SMH.
