This a preview of DJ Absolut’s upcoming mixtape with Lupe Fiasco, called Vintage Fiasco. Here’s a little backstory: Abso was the first DJ to give Lupe light in NYC (on HOT 97 and mixtape love.) This CD will contain 12 unreleased songs by Lupe (supposedly never heard before) from his Arista Records days.

The reason why this being an official mixtape is significant is because he’s always said that he didn’t like his unreleased songs to leak on blogs/mixtapes, but that if he’d want them to leak, he’d do it himself.

Wale was on hand at the Sprite Step Off event on Saturday night in Chicago at the Regal Theater, and Andrew Barber had the chance to speak to him.

Pharrell was invited to give the key note speech at Midem, a music business conference held in Cannes, France. It was in Q&A format with Rob Stone, who is the co-CEO of Cornerstone – who you might remember from Pharrell’s Billboard cover.

UPDATE: I sat through this 40 minute interview earlier today and Pharrell had some really good shit to say. If you have the time, I suggest you watch/listen to what he said while out there.
