   besides, i’m fucking married. i have a boring fucking government job. that means i can’t smoke weed like i did a long time ago. my wife wants kids. i have a fucking mortgage along with bills up to my eyelids. i study my retirement shit every so often. i remodel my kitchen and landscape my front yard. i get hangovers after a few drinks. serious hangovers. my back hurts for no fucking reason when i wake up. and it hurts for weeks at a time.

   the only remaining aspect of my youth that i adore more than anything in the universe is rap. not just any rap, but MY rap. it keeps me in touch with a much better time in my little existence.

   please don’t fault me for that. you’ll be there sooner than you think.

    conflicted w/Kanye’s message. while i really want to totally agree with him, i also feel that he’s being a little irresponsible. not everyone is going to be a Kanye. therefore, not everyone can live the way he lives, realisticaly, or get away with the things that he does. i believe it’s because of this that other artists in his position shy away from publicly taking such a strong stance – even when they really want to.

I need definites. otherwise, you can’t honestly blame my disgruntlement(?) on my age & upbringing.

    Nah I’m not saying you have to submit to listening to any rap music in today’s climate, I was just saying you’ll have to accept the fact that the type of rap music you loved has moved on.

    Sure the mid 90′s produced a good number of quality albums, and is largely considered the Golden age. It’s hard to argue what’s better because the sound is totally different. It’s like comparing hard rock to soft rock and saying who’s better. I would just say open your mind and listen to what you like instead of what you’re suppose to like. If you don’t happen to like then just replay the classics.
