Damian Marley & Nasir Jones – Strong Will Continue
Rumored to be the first single from Nas & Damian Marley’s Distant Relatives collaborative album, that’s produced by Damian and his brother Stephen Marley. The song was titled “Only The Strong” on the original track list and the album was initially supposed to drop on March 16th but it seems to have been pushed back to 4/20.

Southern Artist want respect for his bars…starts spitting unprecedented verses…murders all guest appearances…makes an album with a mainly East Coast vibe & loses some of the thickness of the southern drawl…Is critically acclaimed…continues to pen unprecedented verses…Has the rap world in denial about how good he actually is…
Ross = Wayne circa 2005 / 2006

The media-savvy Long Island Lolita — who’s getting naked at Scene Restaurant & Lounge in Commack, LI, today, tomorrow and Saturday — promises to donate a portion of her earnings toward the relief effort. Fisher, a mother of three, launched her own porn site last year and embarked on a tour as a stripper for hire across the country. Thankfully, she’s not taking her act to Port-au-Prince.

Before he left acting to become a hip-hop star, Joaquin Phoenix recorded an album that his collaborator says is a masterpiece.
“He’s a Beatles, Oasis, Bowie-style songwriter. I hold it in that high esteem,” L.A. musician Julian Shah-Taylor told E! News. “He’s accomplished just about everything anyone could accomplish as an artist. So coming out with a brilliant album of great music would not surprise anybody, and I think that’s maybe why he didn’t release it…And I think it’s better to have some secrets, and I think Joaquin’s secret is his prodigious music talent.”
This album was recorded during a couple of months in 2007, before Joaquin’s infamous appearance on Letterman last year, when he hid behind sunglasses and a bushy beard and refused to give more than monosyllabic answers.
Julian has not worked with Joaquin on his hip-hop projects but he told E! he believes “he’s quite capable of whatever he turns his hand to…Whatever it is, it will be genius, because I think he’s close to genius.”

Will Kanye West be allowed at the Clooney-helmed Haiti telethon airing this Friday?
“After what he said on the Katrina telethon and the way he behaved at the MTV Video Music Awards, everyone agrees it’s just best that he does not participate,” a source told AOL’s PopEater. “Kayne has to make everything about himself. He will do anything to steal the spotlight and, well, this night it’s just not about him.”
It doesn’t take an insider to point out Kanye’s loose cannon tendencies, but “everyone” does not agree that he is disinvited from ‘Hope for Haiti.’ MTV, which is hosting the telethon, says there is no truth to AOL’s reports of a Kanye ban.
“That’s absolutely not true. We DID reach out to Kanye,” a rep told Us Weekly.
Kanye grabbed headlines at a similar telethon to raise money for Hurricane Katrina in 2005 when he went off script and said, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”

Exactly. Ross came in the game on the Jeezy wave and I’m sure Def Jam helped to push him in that simplistic direction. And joe, as an emcee you know that sometimes the beat calls from something a little less intricate. “We in room 222″ was simple, but it worked with the song.

TRUTH is your all your favorite commercialized rappers have ghostwriters. The rapper uses his image/personality and flow to sell

Yall know Rick Ross has his own label now right? The first album was DTR so this is why I don’t think he has ghostwriters
January 22nd, 2010 at 11:13 am
Common Sense made a way bigger jump from his 1st to 2nd album
^he changed with the times, music was going in a totally different direction, so that’s a given. Nothing has changed between the time hustlin came out and DTR.
I’m not doubting him, well maybe I am, but transformations like this JUST don’t happen within several months. I’ve never seen it
January 22nd, 2010 at 11:14 am
how many artist can you say in the history of rap has gotten so much better between albums?
^^
Common, Andre 3000, Pac from Strictly to Me Against….
^
lolword, niggas is mad cynical.

No-sign. I’m not a fan of his music per se, but I’d be shocked to learn that Fabolous has ghostwriters.

Common, Andre 3000, Pac from Strictly to Me Against….
^once again, blame it on the times, the jump from the early 90′s to the late 90′s was a huge leap, from 2005 to 2007-2008, not so much, the climate in rap wasn’t that serious for rappers to just switch there whole steez.

A change in direction of the music wouldnt help someone get nicer lyrically, it would just change their production styles and overall presentation.

I personally think he’s been dumbing down all this time. He had a freestyle over T.I.’s ‘Doin My Job’ years ago where he has a similar flow to what he’s putting out now. When I first heard Port Of Miami, I couldn’t believe it was the same guy…

^Overstood, I typed that a lil wrong, what I meant was wordplay, lyrics, etc was going in a different direction, look at how niggas switched there steez when nas stepped in the picture, or big, jay use to rap like the fu-snickins (sp) then when big & them niggas hit, he switched his style, why all of a sudden rawse felt the need to go lyrical when his non lyrical music was selling records?

He got outed as a CO. He had to make sure his rhymes and music were so undeniable that niggas would look past that fact. Thatd be my guess, but like I said, I don’t think the jump he made was quite as drastic as you’re saying it was.
January 22nd, 2010 at 11:22 am

I think what Joe is talking about is like Jay-Z’s transition from his verse on Big L’s album to reasonable doubt. The style he was using just wasn’t popping, so he changed it. Same for Common. There hasn’t been that type of climate change in the past few years.
FTR I dont think Ross has ghostwriters. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. Also Andre was spitting flames and introspective shit on Outkast’s and Goodie Mob’s debuts.

There has been a very big climate change..
Success is no longer determined by a BUDGET. That age is over. Now, success & career longevity is more governed by artistry & respect…
Ross making a upper tier LP is how he survived the 50 onslaught & CO fuckry…and now, his career has a waaaayyyyy longer lifespan. He’ll get features, not because the label suggested him, but because artists think he’s nice…
Ross smartened up. Alotta rappers should learn from this…

On the strength of albums last year
Rae, Ross, Mos, 50 all killed it. Jada’s was ok. Camel could do better. Nas is coming (ll).
I need a mixtape of straight spittin, like Banks has been doing, from one of these rappers though.
