Black Thought also spits a 16 over The Roots’ “Popeyes” instrumental.

Its not a losing battle, however that is how we’re conditioned to think. We discard and write off our most valuable assets, our youth. The key to change lies within the youth, their children, and their children after that. This has long been the gameplan of the elite oppressors, who have employed tactics of posterity to ensure that long money. My manager and I have been having some ill conversations lately, and one of the numerous gems dropped centered around the fact that the last few republican presidents have maintained the same faces within their cabinet. No significant policy is being decided on a day to day basis, as numerous campaign ads and presidential debates will have people believe. Nope, policy is acted upon and implemented as a result of decades upon decades of planning. We need to adopt the same principles, hence the importance of connecting with the youth.

Economically, disease-wise, etc we’re much better off now than 50 years ago (the world in general), but there’s a certain moral character fiber that seems to be lacking today in our youth.

^ truth, but I don’t think its the gameplan of the oppressors, I think its mainly because people are so overwhelmed with day to day survival, that they can’t muster up the strength to deal with the tomorrows. How do you lay the ground work for the future generation, when you’re busy playing catchup with yesterday. Also the ones who do have that leisure are greed stricken and couldnt give a fuck less about anyone elses children, aslong as their kids future is secured, is all that matters in their eyes.

I understand Gucci’s self created from a fundamental perspective, but I don’t think that’s the message that people are receiving from his music, and that’s what matters. Ariel 2012…I been saying that since man was in Subterrania
Or should I say outside Subterrania
Too young to get in, just me & Micz but, we stayed there all night spitting mania
Maniacs, never get sad when a man’s brain reacts reminding me I might never blow
I just hit the road, trying to get some dough,
bredah check yourself, Im tryna get paid in cash
Went off ends, couldnt sell my neighbours that
Puts me a very long way from rap
But musics in the DNA helix
Shocking..shared some satges with stars but I started just wanting a Pete Rock remix
Now they say “Rigga is missing”
Sit in the kitchen, break bread with driven division
Im the illest bredah spitting
Living or dead, or dead-living cos their spirit has been mystically risen…listen…
I listen a riddim & think about battering beats
Shatter a beat, glue it back & put it back on its feet
And I could still do that when man is discreet
I could go off ends and bring a famine to feast, y’see
I sustain never having to eat
And brought a girl candy rain never having to eat
yearn for more, burn your jaw, put your growth on pause like hair on animal feet…
Fuck Inspectors…and that Morse, we follow street code
Where beefs told to ease those with egos
And we blow this weed smoke through each nose hole
Tell my foes say Assault & Reapo bro..
Take out potential threats
Your stupid units cant grasp my mental depth
My troops are moving through with sequential steps to scent your flesh with stench of death..think about it
I ride the air…enter room
You’re quiet, “who’s there..?” then a BOOM
you met your doom, i fled the room, theres no sensing who..
Recognise you wasnt meant to guess
Tony Hawks, haywire, phones distort
No retort, these biters are cloning thoughts
No justice, I stand in a bogus court
Got “Conditional Discharge”, on road I walk
Back swinging swords in the bones of Orcs
And Im Hebrew, no pork over fork
And you’re see through..It’s justthe clothes that walk
Yutes are playing for keeps, well I could coach the sport
You dont have to go POP!, just to open corks
I killed a dragon now it’s castle is my lonely fort
The Pope is fraud, we live law that Moses taught
Rhyme from The Book Of The Dead, golden thoughts
Hold your talk, or witness a bold assault
Like youngin, sit back and let the olders talk
I wish I killed Nick Griffin when he strolled in court
What is FREEdom if it can be loaned & bought?
And me chat to them, thats a hopeless talk
Cos I’ll get shackled by a group of bulky dwarfs
They’ll take the shank, take me to back & leave a holey corpse
Yeah…a holy corpse
My soul is launched, looking like a golden torch
And then, with the Lord Of Hosts I talk…like…
Psalm 82, thatwas more relating to the truth i was shown then told to talk
That was 1-9-8-6
Aquarian sky the Sun painted
Reborn like Anderson in the Matrix
To lead man way from that fakeness
Spitting greatness..
Demonstrated..
With the Plaintiff, whether over some 808s or some faint kicks….
The beat fades when the murderings done
Soothe your brain like the herbs in your lungs
Never move with the herd when they run

Weakened, definetly. But through a common cause, I think we managed to stay intact more than couldve have been expected. My father grew up in the “hood” during the 50s and 60s, but as bad as shit was, the majority of the kids still had fathers in the household.
But I do agree with you about the loss of civic community. The thing is, that civic community is built upon the foundation of functional families.

I totally agree. The concept of family in our communities is weak. Yet how do we rebuild that concept, that structure?
>>Harsh as it may sound, a partial solution wil be, not promoting the baby-mama/daddy concept that is so pre-dominant in our culture. There are so many angles to why we’re strapped in our current situations. Having kids is almost cute these days, 15yr olds being encouraged to pop seeds out like its nothing. When society or our community frowns on deviant behavior then the social stigma itself serves as a deterrent for some. Its really about educating the youth as been said already but at our current rate we’re definitely losing the battle.

Its really about educating the youth as been said already but at our current rate we’re definitely losing the battle
^ I’m saying turn off the TV and the Radio as a collective…. its really that simple. Then and only then will we see a generation that isnt misguided.

^the system of slavery broke black family structure down a thousand different ways: physically superior men were farmed out to other plantations to create strong workers, the women were raped whether they were “married” or not, and men, women and children were sold away from their families at the whim of the slavemaster. alot of the same pathologies survive in the hood mentality. the whole way we approach sex as black men hasn’t really elevated from that time period actually.

I overstand everything in your last comment, but I have to say, I think there actually was an elevation of our mentality regarding family post slavery thru the mid1900s, even though the psychological scars ran deep. I really do believe there’s been a regression these last few decades that has taken us closer to slavery in that respect than we were before.

Regarding “our” plight. My opinion isn`t unique but I think segregation was a good motivating factor for original people. It forced us to build our own establishments because we weren`t allowed in “other” establishments. We used to pool our resources together that way through businesses. With intergration,we are content with shopping at the establishments of our oppressors(SAKS/MACY`S/H&M/ETC).We love their status of wealth and the toys and trappings that come with it.Not to blame Gucci Mane, but by even carrying that name,it make our people spend their consumer dollars elsewhere to be associated with the image of wealth.

the family structure of black america is broke because of a lack of economic opportunities
there are just no jobs for a great deal of black men
I know firsthand that everyone is responsible for their own fate and circumstances, but in reality, there are very few opportunities for the urban, uneducated black male. In previous generations these men could find work in factories, but these jobs no longer exist.
The dispiriting feeling of not providing or being able to provide induces apathy, drug use and many of the other problems that lead to broken families.

Ok. i’m probably gonna catch gay accusations for typing this but just think on it for a second.
Tha family structure is usually broken by the man. He wants to go off and sample other poon. We forced our women to become hoes only ‘cos they didn’t trust their man will be coming home. There are exceptions but until we discipline ourselves and stop condoning spreading our seeds around and turning our women out we can’t claim equality anywhere. Man, woman and child is the natural order of things but we as a society want to re-define it, us blacks specifically.
Niggas claim they’re hustlin to support their family but really they hustlin to ball and get all the poon they can! The missing fathers lingering in jail for generations left raising a child to a woman, no disrespect but that ain’t her job!

Charter schools are the worst thing that happened to the public school system. The reason why kids in lower socioeconomic areas can no longer get a halfway decent education is because of public funds being given to what essentially are private schools where these same kids have no way of getting access to…..and please don’t say getting bussed in is an option because no kid should have to to take an hours worth of public transit to get to a decent school. Pair that with charter schools that only require minimal hours (like 3-5) of actual in class learning (these schools are BIG in CA) and you can see how public schools are losing. Our youths are set up to fail unless they are self motivated or their parents are upper middle class.
