this statement couldn’t be further from the truth. Jay bodied exactly one (count them) thing “back then” – his debut, Reasonable Doubt. that was summer ‘96. Biggie’s life and death totally suffocated Jay’s career until the Annie hook, circa fall/winter ‘98 into ‘99. now, that’s about 2 – 2 1/2 years worth of slobbing Big’s deceased knob before anybody starting paying attention to Jay on a national level. throw a hot track from Swizz on RR vol. 1 in the mix and Jay’s suddenly the center of East Coast Rap. and then there was X. . .

It’s really not more of a reason to elaborate, NaS speaks for more “ghetto” proverty striken people than Jay will ever speak for, but Jay is great at speaking on his experiences, which i’m not mad at, it’s just crazy to me that people diss NaS for not being as “real” as his stories and songs portray him to be, his music is one of a kind, just as Jay music is, but I promise you this, if neither one of these guys was to ever make a record, and you heard them just spit, in a cypher, open mic, etc, more would be impressed by Nas than Jay, and this is coming from a stan of both.
