…I’d tell Big they’re still hearin’ his songs
run into Pac ask him where we went wrong
tell him life is miserable when ya dealin’ in the physical form
Is everything that’s invisible gone?
I need to know! Will I still feel pain or will it be ironic?
Will I chill in the flames for all the ills of my brain?
Can I reveal the game to all the hustlers
trapped in the race, and if so can I leave this place?
Can I puff cigars & drink Cristal?
If this is heaven to me is this considered heavenly?
Can I still touch lives answer they “whats & whys”
make sure everybody in my fam’ clutch five.
If I should die…
…don’t cry my niggas

Na Jay was bodying like everything moving back then..
this statement couldn’t be further from the truth. Jay bodied exactly one (count them) thing “back then” – his debut, Reasonable Doubt. that was summer ‘96. Biggie’s life and death totally suffocated Jay’s career until the Annie hook, circa fall/winter ‘98 into ‘99. now, that’s about 2 – 2 1/2 years worth of slobbing Big’s deceased knob before anybody starting paying attention to Jay on a national level. throw a hot track from Swizz on RR vol. 1 in the mix and Jay’s suddenly the center of East Coast Rap. and then there was X. . .

Joe fucked up in that case – the incessant cornballing in front of any form of camera in ’09 made me not want to hear another word out of his mouth for a long time. He’s still on that shit to this day, calling out his exes and shit. Can we arrange for him to have a Charles Hamilton like breakdown so he’ll quit yapping and get back to making music?
January 5th, 2010 at 8:52 pm
I’m gonna say this
If you aspire to become famous (and a great rapper) you’re idol would be Jay-Z
If you just want to be the best rapper flat out, you’d be more of a NaS fan.
Anyone in the history of rap would kill for a Jigga like career, but pure lyricisit love NaS more, or just as much.

Yea I dont know if nas could ride with an “on to the next one” “watcher” or “hovi baby” (no pun intended)
the most range Ive seen from nas as far as being outside his usual style is on HHID where he rapped wit the dave chappele (na sheeee) voice.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:03 pm
Double time flows are overrated BTW
January 5th, 2010 at 9:03 pm
I liked his music. Dumb Out was my shit. But when he got a flip cam and decided to turn his life into Dynasty he lost me. He herbed himself out of an easy $9.99 (Well, actually an illegal download) with his future projects.

^It’s funny that i’m reading your comment while listening to Nas “N.I.G.G.E.R” song, and I seriously doubt that Jay has stepped out of his own realm and spoke as much truth on one song, let alone anything outside of the 90′s as potinent as that song.
I’m from the ghetto, where old women talk about there suger level
it’s not unusual
It’s really not more of a reason to elaborate, NaS speaks for more “ghetto” proverty striken people than Jay will ever speak for, but Jay is great at speaking on his experiences, which i’m not mad at, it’s just crazy to me that people diss NaS for not being as “real” as his stories and songs portray him to be, his music is one of a kind, just as Jay music is, but I promise you this, if neither one of these guys was to ever make a record, and you heard them just spit, in a cypher, open mic, etc, more would be impressed by Nas than Jay, and this is coming from a stan of both.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:08 pm
You could say the same about Nas. He has executed concepts Jay would never dare to try. That alone doesn’t make him better though.
