Seriously, you think Jay could execute those better than Nas? It’s possible he could do something like that, but he never has.
====================================
Jay doesn’t do concepts records well. He lacks the creative vision.
I did like Dopeman & There’s Been A Murder though.
Meet The Parents sucked as did the “water” song from KC.

But does Jay even care if people can relate to him anymore? He’s had more number one albums than the Beatles – that’s got to change a man. Don’t be surprised if that nigga buys a chimpanzee, chops and screws his face and moves to a big house in LA. He’s getting to that level…

IMO. Joe, you forgot about when Jay bet Nas to step in a cipha, put up a mill for a charity of their choice and Nasir shy’d away? Nas needed 4months to come back at Jay, he knew he was gonna get bodied in a cipha..

January 5th, 2010 at 9:22 pm
You know Jay wasn’t gonna battle and risk his career. Neither was Nas. That shit was never gonna go down. That wouldn’t be a good battle anyway. They aren’t punchline dudes, so you would have to listen to the tapes a few times just to decide who won. Can’t really see to many ohhs and ahhs for Jay and Nas.

^That’s why Nas has been better than Jay recently. What’s so funny about telling a joke no one can honestly relate too? Jay talks about eating quail muscle, Nas makes “The nigger tape” with green lantern recently, this should be a open & shut case.
I respect Jay’s hustle, and his career, but as far as making songs that was “intentionally” made for middle class and lower, Nas has been doing a much better job than jay since AG.

^That’s real rap though. Everybody else in NYC sound alike.
You know what’s funny? People might not agree, but the listeners in general seem to be tired of NY’s “sound” (i.e. dialect, accent, etc). This is why everybody tried to take a page out of 50′s book when he dropped GRODT (and even before then on those GUnit mixtapes) because he had some of that Southern verbage and dialect. That’s why I fuck with Philly rappers so heavy because 1.) they never rely heavily on punchlines, and 2.) they got their own sound.
Fans (in general) think it’s the raps, lyricism, etc. holdin’ NY back. Nah. It’s just that niggas is tired of them accents. LOL

Joe, jay got way more heartfelt ghetto anthems about the hood condition than nas has ever written, I could make you a list.. lol, seriously though..
^lol, I follow both of there music, and I doubt you can make a list with songs that jay was speaking on others experiences and not himself (hood wise). That’s one of the reason I became a stan of Jay, cause he use to speak on himself in his music, like I said in the previous post, Nas makes music for the people more than Jay does, especially now. Nas recently made “cops keep firing” “Association” “N.I.G.G.E.R” all on the same album, that’s more than jay has done in prolly the last 5 years *straight face* I remember when nahggers use to joke about Jay buying a submarine, just to say he was the first to own one, lol, who can relate to niggas owning yacths and what not? Most of the niggas nas speak to in his music never been on a boat, let alone left there city. Nas is a poet that just so happens to be a great rapper also. Jay is a business man that just so happens to be a great rapper, it’s a slight difference, both are legends, there just different
January 5th, 2010 at 9:41 pm
And I said all of that to say that to back up my cosign with Boosie about Max B having a totally different sound.
Also, rappers who use their voice for more than just rapping (Max B, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, b-ease) are also like to get more followers because they can appeal to both masculine and feminine auras.

True…this is what I been telling people…But its more of a psychological/sociological issue as well….because music energy confined to a certain area can only last for so long…
New York had a great run but every rapper started sounding the same…and NO generation has liked the exact same music as the previous generation.
“Lyricism” was an era and not the standard/norm…Of course lyrics will always be prevelant but the Scientific lyricism was an era that was prevelant in New York Hip-hop…You’re also right about the accents…because music travels…and cats just started sounding monotonous…The same sound can’t be replicated for years.

^THIS. I been saying this to myself for a while now. And the worst part about it is that New Yorkers are spoiled brat, whiny, sore losers so for the last 5+ years we had to hear them niggas complain. I admit that for a brief period I lumped myself in that elitist bullshit. Then I stepped outside of myself and said, hey, as bammafied and country as some of them niggas are, that’s REALLY who they are. You can’t change a region. If you bring up the biting thing….that’s an emotional based argument…because Jay has been the most bitten rapper in history..
T.I. and Lil wayne bit jay too? but do people accuse them?
Everyone one has influences….people use trivial/irrelevant arguments to try to refute claims….

And that’s my prob with Jay. He’s moved so far up the ladder that he has no idea what’s going on with the common folk, nor does he care.
Rappers speak for the people and Jay stopped speaking for me around the Black Album.

These rappers (at least the ones who are really worth something) are supposed to comment on the many different shades of the black experience. Jay used to do that to some degree but now days that part of his persona is dead and gone. Jay-Z is all about ME, ME, ME, ME!

That break between The Black Album & Kingdom Come did alot of damage.
^THIS.COM
Son, do you know how much I hated hiphop between that time period? Real rap, I went sooooo underground fam you wouldn’t believe it. I bought all of Jean Grae albums (and mixtapes), was going to every Roots and Raheem Devaughn show, rockin’ trucker jackets and tees with them retarded sayings on ‘em. Fuckin’ with bohemian broads real heavy. ANNNND, that’s when my hate for Wayne started. Because he said he was the greatest rapper alive since the greatest rapper tired. I was like, who the fuck is THIS nigga? Did he not see Jay fade-away with the jumper with the Black Album (and accompanied movie, where I almost cried in the damn theater but that’s another story, lol). Then this Camel faced nigga came back with sampling Rump Shaker and I was like, you know what? Fuck it. He gave up, and so do I. Started giving Southern rap a try and slowly stopped having general disdain. Jim Jones then proceeded to be the trend setter in fashion, charisma, and music (thanks to Max, Stack Bundles, etc). The rest is history.
And pardon my tangent, but I’ve been dying to get that off my chest. Because that is LITERALLY the exact damn time period that I thought when hiphop went too far.

Those songs shoulda been the tentpoles (Ayo?) for the album but after 808′s Jay saw the popularity of the hipster/techno trend/style & thought he could jump on and act like he innovated it.

Though dope, I thought the real reason he went in that direction was because he felt like he couldn’t put up KC numbers again at the time so he did a “concept” album that he did not promote so it would be a guaranteed win and wouldn’t be expected to fail in the eyes of the public because in their eyes it would be something that “wasn’t intended to be commercial”.

People keep talking about Picasso but he isn’t the GOAT artist. Sometimes I think Pac is the GOAT rapper and as an artist he was said to be ahead of his time but then he died, and even though he had a bunch of leftovers, as an artist who died before he could improve I now refuse to believe Pac is the best because he never got the chance to become better. All I heard was that he was planning for better music but I think his music before he died was better than the stuff after. Same goes for Biggie. I can’t never say Jay is the ultimate GOAT number 1 but he is definitely in top 10 btw.

The problem is niggaz have really gotten ridiculous with this money stuff. What correlation does a #1 album have on the quality of your work? Vanilla Ice and Hammer REALLY came out in the wrong generation. As impressive as the #1 albums thing is…what does that mean?If Eminem released a cd every year since he came out would he really be that far behind? Didn’t compilation garbage Shady put out like two years ago go plat? Whats the point? Mariah has more number 1 singles than any female in history but would an educated person tell you Mariah Carey>>Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey>>Whitney Houston ? I think that being that rap generally revolves around monetary things and most niggaz nowadays really spend their careers faking it that Jay really means a lot to people

So is Jay’s fame what determines him as the best? It isn’t as if any of Jay’s CDs considered the greatest ever. You put Ice Cubes top 3, Pac’s top 3, Nas top 3, Scarface top 3 and Jay’s top 3 lps together does Jay win hands down? I find that hard to believe. It goes Jimmy, Dre, Em, and than 50 at Interscope. 50 is not only part of the system but has his own empire in this broad and complex system. Also even though people are downloading music illegally and that might seem like a rebel and anti-corporate thing to do people are still following the top labels artists and being brainwashed. How is it that some white Taylor Swift looking chick who apparently raps is number one on itunes? why top radio stations who are a part of the cultures history are playing that song? The labels or system have taken over most this.

There’s plenty of dictators who wanted to take over the world…Hell the great Alexander the Great is Praised for his conquest…He literally wanted a global takeover. Even Before that, Xerxes wanted everyone to bow before him.
This has been going on since the beginning of time…Global takeover is nothing new.

What is the real difference between Jay and Fif when it comes to business mindset? One nigga will sell anything including dildos, how that uplifts the culture or supports it IDK,
The other will hang with uppity Jews so he can be in on where the cash is at.
Selling out is refuting your blackness or race for that matter, or talking down about the hood or trying to erase where you come from. Or living contrary to who you are..

He probably employs more white people than Jay does, all his ventures been with some white dude or company… Not that there’s nothing wrong with that but he likes to play on public opinion b’cos he truely believes the public is dumb enough to buy into these antics.. those were his words in transcription..
50 says hov sold out for going on Oprah, he does a gig with bootleg Oprah
50 critisizes A.Keys and rules her out, wants to work with Susan Boyle
50 tours all the same shows in europe as jay did, flops and doesn’t bring up his international numbers as he usually does!
