But can’t you say that about 75% of rappers right now? These dudes are straight off the street corner. They don’t know anything about song structure and whatnot. That shit takes time to build over time.
^^
You definetly can say that about 75%. But SH arent part of that percentile. These niggas are essentially vets. They’re just not that good. (ll?)

but even fab manages to toe the line of both.

When I listen to Fab’s music, I feel like he overemphasizes his “battle rapper/freestyle” side ie. with his punchlines (wack or not). But as far as him putting together a decent, cohesive record? Ain’t seeing it.

I wouldn’t wanna battle fab ever. his records are misleading, when it comes to spittage he’s still very much an animal.

Hey yo. You’ll know when the shit drops. Trust me, asking about it in the Nah Right comment section isnt going to make Just/Elec release it. SMH at lurkers.

^ uhh umm, you make me better?
fab can put out a mixtape with battle rhymes ill punchlines, then turn around a make a successful song.

No sign. Fab is the exception that proves the rule. A punchline rapper than can make actual songs. His albums suck, but he can definetly write songs.

the GOAT says
“…this that black Elohim Annunaki rap,
that Farrakahn Akeem Olajuwon Qaddafi rap,
i dedicate this to my niggas in New Orleans
rocking black & gold stocking caps and fleur de lis Shockey hats …”
this nigga reference GOD, Malachi York, the Nation of Islam, the french monarchy, the NBA, 3rd Ward Niggas, and the New Orlean Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey in like, 4 bars…
clearly HE is the GOD MC…
JayZ stole the name from him, before JayE was even in effect

This is why I love listening to On My Hood Recording Group mixtapes and albums, because all conventional song structure is thrown out the window. 18 bars into a 2 bar hook/chorus then right back to 12 bars of hottness by their man then refrain the hook/chorus for about 45 seconds and voila! song done. There are effective ways of disregarding formal sonf structure and still having a good song that doesn’t sound strange. (only one coming to my head [ll] is Nipsey’s “C.E.O.”)

Can he do good songs? Yep. He has … but I’ll be damned if he can do it on a consistent basis.
I don’t think Fab has stepped his game up at all. Lyrically, ain’t nothing really different from what we got five years ago.
