Two blocks away from his Harlem home, 88-Keys sits back and recalls the day Q-Tip introduced him to a little detroiter named Jay-Dee during a Beats, Rhymes and Life recording session. Back in 1994, Dilla hadn’t accomplished much yet, but somehow skillz recognized skillz, and 88 gave him a beat-tape with his beeper number on it…
NB : if you’re from Newark and remember jacking this guy’s backpack in the mid-90’s, you might be the owner of the greatest Dilla beat-tapes collection ever. Unless you recorded some bad boy shit on them or just threw these no-rap tapes away.

On the several occasions I have been here, I have seen Amp put on his mask in the virtual world to garner “hate” and attention. I also wondered why his hate for nation so much, then it all happened. He got a job at some blog site and it was clear what his end goal was. Congrats, and good strategy to break into the blog world.

Revisionism at its finest. 88 Keys presents himself as if he and Jay Dee were contemporaries, but 88 Keys was a wetmouth dickriding biter. Besides telling him to geek down, Jay also called him out by saying “Who the fuck is this sitting in my session man? This is my project ho, on some MC Shan…” Which he wrote in response to 88 Keys trying to sit in on all his studio sessions, and also calling his pager multiple times per day to hear Jay’s newest beats. 88 Keys was a stalker, with the dubious distinction of being the first to bite Jay Dee’s style wholesale.
