Reflection Eternal feat. Jay Electronica, J. Cole & Mos Def – Untitled [Radio Rip]
Mos broke the news about this lineup to Semtex two weeks ago and then last week there was a Youtube of Kweli previewing it at a party.
Well last night, Just Blaze & Jay Electronica were on Tony Touch’s show (full audio here) and Jay let the crazy joint loose. So crazy I had to give it its own post.
UPDATE: The CD Quality is now available and the title is “Just Begun.”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Props: Tim G.
Just Blaze also played: Mos Def & Jay Electronica – “Holiday” + Twista & Busta Rhymes + Saigon
Andy @ Rockabye typed out the lyrics after the jump.
(Talib Kweli)
(Ay, yo, Hi-Tek?
Do me a favor, man, speed it up a little bit)From the intro you know I’m so influential, ’cause I’m glowin’ like a candle
The focus is so essential, dawg, what you tryna get into?
I steady the flow, ready to blow like snotty tissue
They snitchin’ like Donnie Brisco and countin’ like Monte Cristo
The ghetto full of betrayal like Iago and Othello
Your fellow neighbor will slay you, they’ll smoke you like cigarellos
Police, want that info, they’ll grill ‘em like portabellos
I’m murderin’ instrumentals ’cause I rap with the conscience
Of felons, killers, and monsters, so revealing and honest
We’re still feelin’ the promise, some nights I kill ‘em with kindness
Hittin’ like Muhammad Ali, you more like Tatyana
All this is prob’ly karma: You dishonored the father
Whether it’s God Almighty, or the almighty dollar
We follow the prophets like Islamics or the Dalai Lama
Your bullet points so hollow they could prolly pierce body armor
Look in the scope, my people still a target(Jay Electronica)
Smile on my face, tears of a sad clown
Feelin’ out of place as I whistle a cab down
If I tip extra, can I huff a cig?
Blow my smoke out the window, droppin’ ashes on the bridge?
I’m in New York now, like Akeem and Semi was
Tryna get the lobby door open from a semi buzz
I just wanna go to the slum
And throw my money on the floor like the Notorious B.U.M.
Build a home, teach a class, start a revolution
Free the mind, heal the body, talkin’ evolution
This that black Elohim Anunnaki rap
That Farrakhan Akeem Olajuwon Qaddafi rap
I dedicate this to my niggas in New Orleans
Rockin’ black and gold stocking caps and fleur-de-lis Shockey hats
I’m in the coatroom, screamin’ “Who Dat” on the double
Servin’ gumbo wit’ a shovel, dawg, I’m on another level
Me and Kweli come together like two pieces of metal
We magnetizin’ the ghetto(J. Cole)
(Yeah, now here’s the memo)
I’m a rebel without a cause, a bezel without no flaws
And shawty, you straight, but you look way better without no drawers
Let’s sweat out this alcohol, bet I’m about to ball
And never let up, look how I just crept up without applause
Fed up with all the frauds and left y’all without a job
The center of attention, this is clever, I’m Pau Gasol
Really though, I’m LeBron
Really don’t got my mind, on this new school of rappers,
I will really go Columbine & throw up the diamond sign
Boy you know I’ma shine
Flow is in Ramadan
‘Cause couple years ago, the game had they pajamas on
But now they on my dick, man, I should throw a condom on
Ay, ’cause a nigga comin’ raw like I ain’t got one on
And I ain’t stoppin’ or coppin’ no pleas, I just lock and load, squeeze
Dawg, I’m on a higher level, I’m on top of nosebleeds
Niggas say they sick, but when they write, they don’t sneeze
Like the nigga on the block wavin’ his Glock but won’t squeeze
Please(Mos Def)
Hold your applause until the ceremony end
Yours truly, truly blessed, yet again a noble pla-anted
Super magic, abracadabra kid
Mysterious master Jim, blacker pen, arrowhead
With the long-barrel stem, and his apparel fresh
Harbor lights shinin’ out the black power grid
With the Black Power grip
And pure power don’t power trip
Push the cellar ceiling up and make the tower tip
Your Gladwell point, and Babylon polish
All about nothin’ where it’s all about the dollar
And mansions on the fault line of a shaky market
The devil at the dancehall, thirsty for a partner
Get off ‘im
There is not a parcel or a portion
Or a measure of a fortune more awesome
Gorgeous
The funky Four Horsemen and one more
With Hi-Tek on the score, once more, of courseYou’re welcome, thanks
Appreciation for your participation
Special dedication
Celebration, bitches

I agree w/ yae.. Cole, did his thing(nh)…. everyone certainly shined but, J.Cole stood out… Jay Elec with another ridiculous verse..
December 23rd, 2009 at 2:09 am
JCole might have gotten that one…hmm…..my Electronica stannery wants to front
December 23rd, 2009 at 2:09 am
J. Cole bodied that shit, i’m glad everyone got off on this dope track

December 23rd, 2009 at 2:11 am
This track >>>>
All 4 MC’s killed.. I can’t call it after 3 listens, leaning towards JayE but Cole was cold and well Talib and Mos are professionals..

December 23rd, 2009 at 2:13 am
you can hear the hunger in Cole and tell he’s the young’n of the bunch. everyone went in though. beat, verses…all crack! real strong track.

Jazz samples > Soul samples
December 23rd, 2009 at 2:17 am
J Cole did his thing, son got the kinda punchlines that u never get tired of ie they not “cheesy”… Jay Elec paints a picture with his verse tho
Alotta dudes claim to paint pics but thats really a skill that a small minority really have, true story
December 23rd, 2009 at 2:18 am
4th listen, J.Cole took it, very close 2nd is JayE.. damn, this is a good feeling… Bring that real spit back..
December 23rd, 2009 at 2:19 am
My nigga J. Cole took it too another lever 4rl…crazy track tho…”I’m on a higher level I’m on top of nose bleeds”
December 23rd, 2009 at 2:19 am
I’m a Mos stan, but . . .
Elec > Kweli > Mos > or = Cole
Def’s flow murders Cole, but his verse is mad lazy . . .
And stop lyin, you rewound kweli.
December 23rd, 2009 at 2:19 am
I thought Talib had the best flow on the track tho
December 23rd, 2009 at 2:21 am

>>JCole might have gotten that one…hmm…..my Electronica stannery wants to front
^lol. it’s close. like i said you can tell Cole is the youngest. the references to fucking bitches, sport references, fucking the game with no condom on(nh)…etc. he went at the beat harder than the rest, but the elder dudes sounded more mature with their verses. so in that respect i might give Elect the edge. Mos definitely last…lol. still a dope verse though.
December 23rd, 2009 at 2:25 am

Honestly, all of em crushed it, Mos Def’s verse was not lazy at all it was just super buttery, J. Cole and Jay Elec are the fuckin future right now, and Kweli can still eat most rapper’s lunches. This is like the underground version of Forever. Incredible song.

it will be interesting to see how jay and rocnation handle j. cole. drake may never get a chance to create a classic now that he’s overexposed to the machine. j. cole could get caught in the fab trap if they are not careful with how they bring him out…

For the record, while I rewound every verse (and rewound again and again while transcribing), the two lines that stuck with me were Jay E’s cig on the bridge one (he’s gifted at painting pictures) and the Mos lines about the harbor lights, and pushing the cellar ceiling up.
Can’t call it, though, because everyone came correct.

well there are 2 phones on the horizon that will have better STATS than the iphone… as a matter of fact there are plenty NOW that beat it on stats alone
its that open development and apps that make iphone the giant that it is. However with the google android operating system, the gap is closing. And at the rate googles partner HTC is cranking out phones its inevitable. This new Nexus one phone coming to the market looks to be the real deal. Its got the power of a computer and the apps to match.. well close enough anyway… plus its not on ATT which means that your monthly cost will go down… win win. google nexus one.. you’ll see

Honestly, all of em crushed it, Mos Def’s verse was not lazy at all it was just super buttery, J. Cole and Jay Elec are the fuckin future right now, and Kweli can still eat most rapper’s lunches. This is like the underground version of Forever. Incredible song.
^
word to that and i am soo glad people on nah are talking about the music on these posts instead of other shit. this song gives great inspiration, and a warm feeling that good hip-hop is still appreciated. loved everyones verses, underground version of forever, defiantly agree.
One Love to Hip-Hop.
