Video: So Far Gone Is MTV’s Mixtape Of The Year
If Drake is not a household name for everyone just yet, the 23-year-old is on the front porch, ringing the bell. That he’s done it without even putting out an official album shows just how far he’s come in 12 months. What a journey it’s been for the Toronto native in 2009.
I first met Drake last year in Los Angeles around Grammy time. Lil Wayne’s co-manager Cortez Bryant introduced me to Drake as a new “singer” that they were working with. Drizzy was cool but barely spoke: At the time, there was no way I’d envision him as having a shot at making the MTV News’ “Hottest MCs in the Game” list, let alone finishing in the top three. He was a “singer,” right?
Everyone — including Drake — is probably surprised at how much he’s achieved this year. On the basis of its quality and impact, Mixtape Daily can say that So Far Gone isn’t just the top mixtape of 2009, but one of the greatest of all time. As a body of work, the project is better than most albums from the past few years.

i’m not even lying when I say Birdman was my favorite rapper this year. Every verse he’s dropped has been the same exact shit over different beats. Gotta be the best 50+ rapper doing it.

Sheeeit, Stevie knows what’s going on way better than MTV. Gucci’s “Writing on the Wall” and “Burrprint 3″ tapes were better so was Wayne’s “No Ceilings”, Z-Ro’s Cocaine, etc.
Although if you’re a 14 yr old girl maybe you think Drake or Minaj are running this rap shit.

SoulnoS speaks the truth. MTV calling So Far Gone best mixtape of the year?! best mixtape of all time?? who are they trying to fool? i can make a list of better mixtapes than that. we’ll start off with lil wayne – da drought 3.
December 14th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
There are five mixtapes that came out this year that are better than So Far Gone. Sometimes I wanna like Drake as a artist but this dude is getting too much hype to the point that he’s overrated.
BTW hype for Jay Electronica who mostly delivers > Drake’s existence

Sway needs to leave MTV if he still wants the Hip Hop community to respect him or before MTV fires his ass and he ends up on BET or those celebrity gossip news shows.

He has succesfully became one of the most talked artists to come from our city since Maestro came to the scene in the late 80’s. MTV just honoured his “So Far Gone” as the mixtape of the year, check the video as we see MTV explains why as this is the mixtape of the year! Why ‘SO FAR GONE” is the best Mixtape Ever, name one mixtape that you have that can do what his has done, he has a Grammy nod, from a mixtape, he is on everything, with everybody, based off the success of his mixtape, he went on tour, Country Wide, with a mix tape, GQ man of the year, Mixtape, Best I Ever Had, Successful, better than any other song that tried to crossover and generate success, EVER, people like him, they generally like him, look at all the other Internet Celebs, Mixtape Phenoms, can you honestly saw, they can sell anything, he sold more than most rappers, from a CD that was and is widely available for free
This proves two things, people support good music and most of AMERICA could care less about what’s on the NET

There are some major haters on this site. Whether you believe Drake had the best mixtape or not is irrelevant. You can’t base this off of quality alone because everybody will have differing opinions. But what we can agree on is that Drake had the biggest mixtape of the year. How many people you know got this much buzz off of mixtapes? All you niggas wanna talk about “labels paying people off”, but come on? Did they pay the grammys off to? Did they pay the 25 million + people watching is songs on youtube as well? Fact is, So far gone was bigger than most albums. You can’t name a mixtape that did as well.

I’m a fan of both Drizzyy & J. Cole but So Far Gone, IMO, was better than the Warm Up. it has A LOTTTT more bumpable songs & it’s a lot easier to relate to… but maybe that’s just me.
anyways, CONGRATS DRIZZZAYYY && I CAN’T WAIT FOR THANK ME LATER!!
in the words of cudder, “RAAAGE ONNNN!!!”
