Tracks like X is Coming and Omen were real dope to the 14-year old me, but they just come off as cheesy now. And I’d rather hear Phil Collins than listened to the song on X’s LP with the “In the Air Tonite” sample. Not to mention that posse cut with those wack niggas that were never heard from again. I also cant listen to Ruff Ryder’s Anthem anymore. Its just not that good.

Melding a West Coast sensibility with East Coast beats and rhymes was genius. And the the best songs on RTD are some of the best hiphop songs of all time. But the last half of the album is saddled with weak production (compared to the first half) that lead to some clunkers, like Respect and Friend of Mine.

The above three albums you named above simply dont have that problem in my opinon.
