Video: DJ Enuff’s Hip-Hop Fun Fact (“Reservoir Dogs”)

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Enuff explains how, back in ’98, Isaac Hayes asked his opinion about whether he should allow Jay to sample “The Theme From Shaft” for what would eventually become “Reservoir Dogs”. He reasons that just maybe if he had told Isaac something like, “nah, don’t do it, Jay-Z’s a chump”, the song may have never happened.

So who ended up with the best verse on the track? I’ve always been of the opinion that it’s between Jay and Styles, but I’d probably lean towards Jay. That’s one argument that will go on forever.

Video: Method Man, Raekwon & Ghostface – The Wu Massacre (Trailer #3)

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Rik says their album got pushed back from December 22nd to February 9th. That’s still better than Neveruary 32nd.

According to David Fincher’s “Se7en” Deadly Sins, we’ve seen the sin of PRIDE (the high sense of worth for oneself) and SLOTH (spiritual and emotional apathy) and how the Wu deals with such vices. Well now it’s Raekwon’s turn and guess which capital sin pisses him off the most. Three/21 presents the final installment: “The Wu-Massacre” Part III. Directed by Rik Cordero. Album is now due on February 9, save the date!

Video: BlakRoc: The Trailer

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

The BlakRoc LP finally hits stores this Friday.

Whether it be physical or figurative, whether it be the Berlin Wall or a social stigma, sometimes there are dividing lines that separate what should be together naturally. BlakRoc does not smash those boundaries or break down those walls, it proceeds as if those boundaries never existed and acts accordingly. BlakRoc sets the drawbridge between forms of expression, Hip Hop and Rock by doing something as simple as putting the artists of different genres of music in one room and documenting as harmonious collaboration takes place. Backed over the soundscapes of indie rock superstars The Black Keys, BlakRoc brings elite hip hop artists to record an album like none other, an experiment with no control subject. The Black Keys paired up with artists such as Jim Jones, Mos Def, Raekwon, Ol’ Dirty Bastard and a cadre of other stars is a transfusion of new blood to the otherwise stolid veins of the current music scene.

BlakRoc will be available Nov 27th on iTunes and select music retailers worldwide
