I believe it. I don’t doubt that there was only 30,000 shipped (there was only one in a Best Buy location in dtown Baltimore, and Collin said there were none in a couple of Best Buys he checked in SoCal). What I’m calling bullshit on is the reasoning behind said undershipment.

Yea, I read the “undershipped” story as well. But if that’s the case, there was either no demand from retailers or his label fucked him. The whole “building a fanbase traditionally” is bullshit, because labels simply dont work records like that any more. Wale is a tax write off. He needs to get off Interscope ASAP, which honestly shouldnt be a problem.

in all honesty though.. he didn’t say it was ‘undershipped.’ he told it as if it was a plan. i mean based on how he’s being pushed its not completely unbelievable… mtv awards band, bet cypher.. i feel like they’re giving him some good exposure and forcing his music in front of people.. i think they have some belief in the kid.. they know his lack of gun-toting content is a plus and could be where the game is headed…

Unless I’m mistaken, things like BET cyphers and MTV awards are more management responsibilities (and considering Ronson’s his manager, you know how he got on MTV). Shipping albums is solely the label’s descision. Is he trying to work the album the old fashioned way? Maybe. Is the label? I don’t think so.
