Gucci Mane – My Own Worst Enemy (prod. by Drumma Boy)
NMC‘s Miss Info (yeah, you read that right) comes through with the full version. The song addresses his relationship with Jeezy, T.I. and even Tiny.
She also scored an exclusive interview with the limited-court-allowed-free-time man himself.

I’m hearing pretty much across the board that the second half of the album is better. So I plan on giving it a spin in its entirety when I get off work today.

Yeah, the second half is def better. The joint with Chrisette Michelle is manufactured crack.

===============================================
I wear older gear but with a hip flair sometimes like today I had on a pair of Polo khaki’s, beef n brocoli timbs and brown no popular named suede brown shirt. But most times it depends on the situation If I have a meeting and have to put on a suit i will or at foorball games or practice with the kids i rock sweats.

@Bigstrong
I went to the T-mobile store at lunch and checked out the 9700. I was under the impression that the 9700 was the official “Bold 2″ but it’s just T-Mobile’ own version of the Bold. The buttons are just a tad smaller then the AT&T’s Bold, which is my biggest priority. Plus I’m a little skeptical about the mini-touch-pad. I know it’s going to be the new wave of non-touch-screen smart phones but I’m partial to the scroll-ball (II) for now.
I think I’ll wait for AT&T’s official Bold 2.

No way Gucci is selling more than DTR. Anyone who wanted Wasted and didnt download it (read: white college girls) bought the shit on iTunes as a single. DTR had a good buzz and an established fan base. Please believe, theres a difference between listening to a few gucci singles as a guilty pleasure and going out and supporting dude at the store.
November 12th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
>Gucci will do 500-600K, tops, if Deeper Than Rap can’t even crack 400K, what hope does Radric have?
Wasted > Magnificent
As far as singles goes, and gucci actually built a steady fan base, they stuck with him for 2 jail sentences, I bet money he does more than rawse the lawse.
November 12th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Spotlight has pissed off a lot of his core audience, though, all the dudes I know who were trying to put me on to Gucci for the past year or so are not interested in copping the album now, he could do Boosie numbers
November 12th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Technically, this is Gucci’s third retail LP. This is just his first that has a legitimate buzz attached to it.

I don’t think thats what he meant. 80’s BK was crazy alot the country is messed up because of the mentality that came out of BK and was transplanted to other parts of the country. Joe 88 knows what I mean people in Va, NC, SC, Ga all up in down the east coast and beyond.

50 first and foremost is a smart guy. he’s manipulating situations like the Original 50 did but he’s capitalizing way beyond any hood business. He’s a good actor he can talk it and people can believe it but do you really think he would give up all his riches and turn back into boo boo and put 2 in your noodle? Hell no he aint gonna hurt nothing and I think alot of the Jay hate from him comes from the fact that he really is a fan of Hov and of Brooklyn (no old commenter on a rap blog)

Jim Jones starting clothes trend. I don’t care about music, album, production, tracks or sales.
Jim Jones was caked up. At least he acted like it. First nigga to do the Koch thing and become successful at Koch, then everybody followed.
Jimmy used to have 100,000 – 200,000 grand in a louis vuitton duffle, in front of hood niggas, cracking bud, drinking henny and just bugging out.
I will always have respect for Jimmy Jones. He is that dude.
Had everyone on their rock star steeze, the tru’s, tight muscle shirts, etc.
Eybody was doing it. If you wasn’t, you wasn’t pulling n e thing in the club if you aint have your Jim Jones costume that night.
GUARANTEED.
Jim Jones got everyone their tight jeans and smedium tip. Kanye hated because the Hood gravitated too Jimmy more. Freekey Zeekeey was gonna fuck up Kanye too.

I mean Look at yourselves, Southern rap is successful, because New york music got stale…it happens in every genre of music…Music has never stayed in one place…niggas need to study history instead of being bitter and mad, cause their “music aint the same no more”….shits disgusting b.

I’m tired of niggas being Serial Killers and Natural Born Murders in the Booth or on the mic, when they laying their vocals on the track/beat.
But when you see em in person, they dap you up, say “hi, how you doing”, are very polite, cordially and friendly.
Nah nigga…i dont go like that….I thought you had guns, coke and skeletons in the trunk.

November 12th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
Level of wordmanship, is bullshit if its not put into the right format of a song….Black southerners have ALWAYS been better at making music…New yorkers are bammas that escaped whips and chains of crackers….
You have to understand history and culture, before you start making emotional rants…..New York has always been a place of progressive movement and has a history of Black intellectuals….The black cultural movement has always reflected the intellectual literature, and music that one displayed so it reflected in song form….
New York rappers are good with words, but lack feeling and emotions….and feeling and emotions in music far outweigh abstract lyrical wording…

then i heard what tru life did to mobb deep…allegedly…i just shook my head…
then i heard what keith murray beating down prodigy and KO’ing him….i just shook my head..
then i heard saigon snuffing and clothelining prodigy in front of all his goon…i just shook my head..
Prodigy is in PC…protective custody…real men don’t do that in prison…they go to gen. pop and face the consequences…rapes, stabbing, beat downs…you gotta go through that…if you a thug

I remeber one time I heard a down south rapper use the word “rhetorical” I was blown the fuck away…mad impressed!
November 12th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
Plus niggas arguments are moot and irrelevant….you said WORDMANSHIP (lol) when talking about coke, killing and gooning?….that’s ignorance at its finest, but you’ll let that slide because he uses multi-syllable words that “appear” to be intellectual….nigga you talking about coke and bitches…..
Abstract multisyllabe wording when applying to the same topics…bitches, hoes, drugs and guns….thats 95% of all rap…so what are you saying?…So one is better than the other cause he uses a 10 letter word, and the other doesn’t?..
Sure new york rap is much more “lyrical” but thats a reflection of the culture…new yorkers talk more, more intellectual, and feel like they are better than everyone…While southerners are laid back…which reflects the music…
So is country music can’t be a legitimate art form because the lyrics in their songs are just as elementary, according to your logic.

Urban music might return to new york, but probably not the way you envision it or not in the form of hip-hop…maybe some alternate form of black music which will be labeled different….
I mean the harlem renaissance had a lot to do with the success of new york rap…but the music also reflects the energy of a growing black market such as economics, entertainment, sports etc…for ex…when motown was popping cause it reflected the growing black economy in detroit.

______________________________________________________________
Define real talent? and who were the east coast rappers with real talent?
November 12th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
It comes down to linguistics. Due to the very nature of the more rigid pronounciations of words, East Coast style delivery is limited in nature. Because Southerners are more fluid in the way they speak, they can manipulate flow and words in ways alot of cats on the East can’t imagine. 50 understood this when he made Wanksta. The extending of vowels, and that “twang” simply make current Southern rap delivery more “musical” for lack of a better word. The accent in and of itself becomes melodic. And melody always wins.
And boosie, bamma IS bamma rap because they dont use “big” words. It may seem elistist to you, but even though the content is similar, I had to look up shit sometimes to fully comprehend what Nas or the Wu Tang was saying. Gucci and his ilk are palatable to the average 6 year old. There’s not challenge to one’s intelligence. Now, I’m not saying thats a good or bad thing, I’m just saying.
November 12th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
B-ease,
okay you made a good point…but since when in the history was music supposed to be a challenge, with abstract lyrical wording, that you had to go to a dictionary to look up….Yes I admire nas and the wu for incorporating large words with music, but all other rappers tried to follow and it didnt work….
Simple effective words such as the great r&b singers back in the 70′s and 80′s were challenging as well…the notion that something is great because its a big word and you to look up is basically bullshit….
Not saying those who did it was bullshit, but for those dudes who make the argument the music is better because of it…..music is more than putting together abstract words.

Is it just me, or did gucci decide to go commercial in a matter of 3-4 weeks? His whole style is different. His words are actually audible and his lyrics rhyme and make sense now. WTF is happening here? This song is kinda hard to…not because of the beat or his bamma voice, but ACTUALLY BECAUSE OF THE LYRICAL CONTENT! Wow Gucci… you surprised a lot of us today.
