Video: Pete Rock x CL Smooth (Live in London)
I didn’t know this was going down. Just got chills from hearing T.R.O.Y.
From yesterday’s show at Relentless Garage, Highbury.
Pete Rock & CL Smooth live onstage in London for the first time in years, dropping classics like ‘Soul Brother #1′, ‘Straighten It Out’ and ‘They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)’
It’s a short video, but props to Duncan Master for the heads up.

where? who? what?

can’t front, the man fifty is a genius, the way he used the kanye beef to make his album go platinum was one of the greatest marketing plans ever in hip hop.
^
I don’t think that was his intent Joe, he really thought he was gonna outsell Kanye, and i mean who didn’t? 50’s previous 2 albums sold 20 million combined…it just worked out that way but he is a genius nonetheless.
I mean why wouldn’t he think he was gonna go platinum with a single like I Get Money and again after selling so many records….at that point, theoretically selling at least 2x was a guarantee.

November 10th, 2009 at 10:46 am
yeah.. this time though 50 has NO push.. no beef.. nothing… so like hes not makin anyone interested in the project… i really dont see big numbers for this album. if he goes gold thats a success…
also you gotta take into consideration that he did HUGE international numbers so he’ll probably make a lions share of his bread there.

the greatness of ‘Exhibit C’ cannot be overstated … it may be my favorite rap recording ever …
November 10th, 2009 at 10:46 am
So they squashed the beef? Good for them, and even better for hip hop.
TROY is my favorite hiphop song of ALL time. Like, the way Pete manipulated those horns and CL’s narrative spat gracefully over the track … feels like the alignment of the galaxies and the ancestors using that song as a way to communicate.

It’s TIME some of the elder statesmen started back showing their faces and putting out product. The shit is inspirational to an old nicca like me who LOOOVES HIP HOP.

TROY or Shut Em Down Remix
Both are heavenly with the horns…
