Lack of a real hook for starters
^^
Normally I’d agree, but the back and forth and the soulfoulness are reminescent of “Oh Boy” to me, another song without a “real hook”. Thats the thing, the sample kind of makes the whole song a hook.

^^
Yea, and the label decided to meet him halfway. When it gets (fairly) heckled, he’ll be able to claim it as a side project, not a solo album, and his “legacy” doesnt really have to take a hit.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
Since the Carter 3 Wayne has had an increase in fans who listen to rock more than hip hop. Plus the guy is played on the radio as many times as a michael jackson song after his death. Those cacafaces want Rebirth. The hip hop stans wants a Carter 4 that is a better follow up to the carter 2 than 3.

Maybe, but it doesn’t really work the same way. You could still sing along with “Oh Boy”. Cam & Juelz could really play with the sample in their verses. Not to say “My Darling” isn’t fire, but at 5 minutes, it wouldn’t get that many spins regardless of the hook.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:48 pm
I think there releasing “rebirth” so the labels can have a retail wayne album in the stores when he goes off to jail.
Can’t make any money off a mixtape

November 10th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
They already signed Kevin Rudolf. They didn’t need to try & pull this Rebirth shit cause you risk losing fans. But….

^^
Naw, because if there was enought dope Wayne material to make a C4 at this point, it’d be dropping. The “Carter” series means your getting a quality album, no need to ruin that when you could drop Rebirth/Young Money and still make a shitload of bread.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:55 pm

November 10th, 2009 at 1:55 pm

^True, but reeasing C4 would take away from the steam and the buzz young money has right now. All of them have mixtapes out (some that don’t get posted on nah right) and they just had a huge single a few months ago with “every girl”
If they released C4, wayne wouldn’t be here to promote it, or go on tour, it’s better to release this throw away album “rebirth” instead of fucking up the money maker C4 will be cause wayne inst here.
This is actually a smart idea, this double album will hold the stans over til he comes home

I’m pretty sure I’m done buyin Wayne albums. Kid never really had anything of substance to say and he’s never matched the first Carter. Truth really be told Carter 2 & 3 are wack. Beats are wack, concepts are wack. His bars barely save him but he just hasn’t said shit for 3 years now…..minus that Death Wish verse where he got Jada.
