AllHipHop: Lil Wayne To Accept 8-Month Plea Deal
UPDATE: It’s official.
Lil Wayne will be forced to plead out to a jail term in New York City on Thursday, according to sources with AllHipHop.com.
The rapper is expected to accept an 8-month bid in jail over his alleged involvement with a loaded .40-caliber pistol gun found on his tour bus in 2007 while in New York.
The 27-year-old now faces 15 years in jail for each count of criminal weapons possession and criminal possession of a loaded weapon.
“Wayne is going to plead guilty,” a source close to the case told AllHipHop.com, stressing that this was definitely going to happen. The rapper pleaded not guilty at press time and has yet to make any such public declaration. “The date is coming up and he’s going to do it tomorrow.”
Wayne is rumored to be willing to accept the deal to avoid a long term in jail over the gun. The same source said the term will begin in February of 2010 under the terms of the deal. “If he doesn’t plead, he goes to jail for a long time,” the source said.
“They told him that if he doesn’t plead tomorrow, it will go to trial and then he faces a far longer jail term,” the source continued.
A small amount of DNA may have changed the landscape of the case, according to a report by the Associated Press. There is a “minuscule” amount of the rapper’s DNA on the gun, reports say, and that has strengthened the case for the prosecution.
Another hearing is set to resume tomorrow, where the rapper will reportedly announce his next move.
AllHipHop.com was unable to obtain comment from representatives for Wayne at press time and the rapper didn’t speak to the media at a court date earlier today.
Lil’ Wayne has another trial looming in March over felony drug and weapons charges from a January 2008 police raid.

I’ll enjoy this as well, but that will leave a hole in hip-hop that will need to be filled [||]
The East Coast needs to capitalize on this. I mean look how the T.I. void was filled with not only Wayne, but the Gucci’s and Rick Ross’s of the world. Not saying TIP was a clutch artist, but think how him not recording led to the average remix featuring a Ross verse instead of a TIP verse.
Take every guest verse that Wayne has done, now subtract his presence and multiply it by 6-7 months (he won’t do the whole eight) and you’ll kinda see what I mean.
Even if the East Coast couldn’t seem to squeeze a Papoose song or a Lox album through, hell even Drake may utilize this opportunity to separate himself from the likes of Kid Kidd and Wacka Flacka, which we all know has never made sense from day one. He (along with any artist) wouldn’t have to flood the world with 3 tapes in one day, but knowing this his joint wouldn’t have to compete with yet another new Wayne song is too choice of an opportunity.
If was a rapper right now, I’d be plotting on that weezy jail date something serious.

They all grew up listening to some of the greatest rappers to ever rap and it’s too evident in thier music. true, albums are important. but do rappers really construct albums anymore? Thats what made C3 so great in my opinion, the fact that it was an actual album. in all honesty i think Slaughterhouse are just a group of mediocre niggas who thought coming together would somehow elevate their mediocrity when really it just highlighted it. But my peoples were worried about me, so when things started to improve in my life, i went in the operation.. It’s a whole nite at a party, random exploits, skits, upbeat music, only 2 real “serious” songs on the album.
Honestly, it plays out like a movie–not in the way rappers say the same thing just to have it sound like every other album, there really is a cohesive story arc in it, the skits move the story along, the songs, do..
I really am proud of it, regardless of the clowning I get on here. Oh, also? 99% of the stuff in the skits, the wacky outlandish stuff, happened. True story, swear on my life.

I’m just sayin’ that at hip-hop shows…when there’s a disconnect between the dude on stage and the crowd it always gets ugly. Whether the dude has no skills, the mic is fucked up, sound is off…the crowd will let you know. I’ve seen it countless times.
