I’d have to say Jay-z has one of the best flows in the game, Biggies flow was insane too.
^but they freestyle, so I don’t count them, trust me, it’s easier to become one with the beat when your just going off the top, but to write to a rhythm and say it on beat is totally different.
Like my old producer use to tell me when I didn’t have a flow, your voice is a instrument, become one with the beat, everyone can’t do that, and it’s that much harder when you write the words your gonna say down.
Think about Jay-Z flow around RD times, and his flow now, totally different right? Most of those tracks he wrote then, now all of his shit just flows perfectly with the beat cause he freestyles, stay close cOLD (n)

In what’s been an on-going feud between Miami rapper Rick Ross [click to read] and New York emcee 50 Cent [click to read], the Boss recently claimed he’s won the battle based off of his 2009 endeavors.
Discussing his successful year, including a Billboard chart-topping album in Deeper Than Rap [click to read], Rick Ross compared his “victory” to a biblical scripture. “After you crush such a huge donkey, you have to reap the benefits of going to war. Just like when David beat Goliath, I’m pretty sure when he went back to town the ladies had bread and wine and he fornicated and it was just the best life,” he told RealTalkNY.com.

^I can dig it, and I agree to a point, only reason I can’t co sign it is, i’ve heard nas off beat a few times, budden record as far as flow and delivery is perfect, you can’t name a song where he sounded off point, but nas on the other hand, the remix to the rich boy song with lil wayne he was off the whole verse (which he killed, the timberland print still on his face at the wake line is just sick) if I nas isnt the “purest” rapper as far as delivery and flow, he’s #2.
But on some real shit, some days I actually feel that nas is the GOAT, fuck personal business or loses he took, that nigga made too many dope songs for me to care about his divorce

I think flow should just be a continuous riding of the beat with minimal starts and stops.. NaS starts and stops, BIG didn’t really, Snoop Doesn’t, Em doesn’t, Budden doesn’t..
Also, not having to speed up and slow down, even when you’re dancing around a track in a good way (ie Hov) takes a point or two away from “Flow”.. Not sure if that makes sense, it’s just how I always looked at it.

IMO, flow is one of the many subjective categories rappers are rated by, Its technical. Budden to me sounds too nasal when he raps so it makes his flow wach to me… Take a nigga like Fab or Jada, they mostly have a repeated pattern or scheme of flow on their songs its mostly predictable…
Like Jada only sounds good on certain beats. Big’s body of work is too little to measure his flow against Jay’s, cos IMO Jayz done murked all kinds and types of beats that many rappers won’t even touch. Example: Imagine Eminem trying to flow to Big Pimpin’..

I can’t find my copy of BP3.. I enjoyed it, think Jay still has it, but I don’t listen to the same album for months on end anymore. A better test would be to give it a try in December, January and see if you still enjoy it or if you skip.
To me, the only track what shoulda been left off or redone altogether is “On To The Next One”. That track f**ks up the whole flow of the disc for me, and it took allll the air out of MSG on the 9/11 show.

Luda on Made You Look > Jada

i cannot agree with this…
^^^
It’s close right up until the end, and Luda’s last 2 bars pushes him over the top. I can’t believe that’s even in doubt. I mean, it’s not like kiss was wack, far from it, but luda got that one easy.

Black Thought is super underrated
^Thought is underrated. One of the reasons why is that he’s too modest, which is cool with me. To get more recognition he needs to get on some “i’m the best rapper alive” type shit. That will always get heads turning (c) lil wayne

NY radio pisses me off.. Honestly, I know it’s south-bashing and so be it, but fuck man (nh), I don’t wanna listen to more atlanta rap. I just can’t deal with it anymore. we’re not living ATL lifestyles up here.
to me, it’s like being in NY and getting sports news about the motherfucking Cowboys and Astros and shit–it’s not from here, not our lives. Shit’s disgusting, b. (c) 2007

It’s a preference thing.. Jada’s verse is good, but I think Luda’s is better.

method man… real talk..
^^
Yo, from a purely technical standpoint, Method as an MC is completely flawless.
And also, I pretty much co-sign land’s list if we’re just talking flow. Although I might honestly put yound Snoop at #1 and move everyone else down a notch.

October 21st, 2009 at 11:50 am
Just a thought…
You cant have a top 10 GOAT list.. its just not possible… really…
It would have to be at LEAST 25 rappers… if you made it just 10.. it just wouldnt work.
I see it like the greatest nba players of all time.. you had different greats for different positions… but you didnt have one great over them all…. even though most would say mike…
