I liked Urban Legend, and some parts of King.
But TI is the most overrated, uninteresting “superstar” in hiphop history.
I often wonder if JayZ’s “retirement” wasnt just a ploy by the TI’s (ironic, right?) to usher this guy into the mainstream.

Luda > T.I and most south rappers excluding Outkast And Face
October 14th, 2009 at 2:18 pm
Luda has yet to put out a album that could be arguably a classic album, but imo, he is > out of the southern rhymers. I’ve said this before. He has a few good albums but a lot of them have fillers and I get tired of those albums quickly. He last one is probably my fav and that’s because of all the features (although that was a concept) so I didnt get bored as easy. Chicken & Beer I would have to say is my next fav. Luda is underated. Always TI, Jeezy, Weezy as the southern goats..maybe hottest MC wise, but definitely not talent wise as in flow, lyrical, etc. Luda just needs “that” album.
October 14th, 2009 at 2:19 pm
Ludacris voice and delivery is so hella powerful … one of the strongest voices in hiphop history… great tone, clarity and diction …
that nigga voice always reminded me of a kinder, gentler, Chuck D …
October 14th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
Luda murks a lot of features, remixes so that is good he uses that to stay irrelevant. His live performances obviously is crazy. I dont think Ive seen him rock an arena but seen him perform at clubs and he does his thing.
October 14th, 2009 at 2:20 pm

ti> ludacris …..by far…ludacris was liked by the whitefolks and had no street cred…
ti had the streets and brought the suburbs over to his music….ludacris is a clown ass rapper…simple lyrics…he made clown club music

…its funny but sad to see Russell say that he and Rick’s original concept for Def Jam was to be the antithesis for RnB and shit, “just loud ass records”… and then seeing acts like Ja Rule & Ashanti get up and perform. it really showed how diluted the label and the music has gotten over the years. to go from hard, high energy records like “Slam” & “Rock The Bells” to that and other shit is a little upsetting.
but music changes i guess…

b-ease, you already know cats need you to speak on this lol
^^
I kinda wish I hadnt mentioned it, because while I’ve read a couple things to this effect in interviews and such, I have no links or proof. So I hope it doesnt come off as conjecture, I’m just asking niggas to take my word for it, lol. But I did give the one example that stuck out to Shot Clock.
October 14th, 2009 at 2:49 pm
Your right rey,
Eminem: Um, well it kind of goes back to just my ear. I seen a quote recently from Nelly where he said that there’s rappers that stay on top of the beat, there’s rappers that stay behind the beat and he wants to be inside the beat. And that would be the best way to describe it. I mean, I don’t think me and Nelly, stylistically, are similar at all. But I would definitely agree with that quote that he gave, because that’s the same way I feel as far as just wanting to be inside the beat, just hearing the melody and locking into the rhythm. Whatever the bass line is doing, whatever the drums are doing, I want to sink right into that. On TheMarshall Mathers LP I got a little better at riding beats, like staying on top of them. But on The Eminem Show I started riding the hi-hat instead of the snare or the bass drum, like with “Cleanin’ Out My Closet.” Every time I do a new song, it’s like I’m learning a new trick.

I don’t get into that “for the skreets” stuff, not my lane. I was commenting on his commercial prospects.

lets be clear… Gucci Mane is not an actual artist… he is the creation of external forces (white and/or sellout industry heads) that are hellbent on destroying the art form’s legacy and original purpose even further … he is paid well for this heinous act, and he and others like him, will exist in all media capacities until he and his kind are eradicated …
until then, please ignore that nigga …

I’ve just always heard allusions in interviews to him having 5%/NOI beliefs that he doesnt like to speak on too much. One time he mentioned he and the St.Lunatics becoming vegetarians, when asked why, he said it was religious but wouldnt go into details. There were other examples, but its been a while…

word, I recall Murphy Lee opening up a vegetarian restaurant in the STL…Always thought that seemed a bit strange

real talk tho, Eminem saw the matrix on the Forever track.
October 14th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
See tho’… That’s part of Em’s problem post-Eminem Show.. He really can ride the beat (just no) but it’s at the expense of his inflection, which is one of his strengths. Look at something like “‘Til I Collapse” and then half the cuts on Encore, and all but 2 or 3 on Relapse.
Dude gets inside the beat but he has to be monotone. It’s a major bummer.

Eminem is one of the most technically sound rappers to achieve the level of mainstream success he’s garnered…When it comes to flow, cadence, mic presence and polysyllabic rhyme scheme, he’s largely unmatched…my gripe with homie is that he comes off as a clown and I can’t relate to his subject matter in any shape, form, or fashion…Lose Yourself is one of the best rap songs ever, though, IMO
