   I’m not saying everyone should be singing Kumbayya…but there’s not one song on the radio right now that’s detailing what the average nigga is going thru in America…rappers have lost us, and it shows in their sales.

   In the past, during segregation, depression etc, music carried us, it was the voice for the people that didn’t have. Some of the best music we have sampled for hip hop use was created in the most darkest of hours.

   This economic climate should be inspiring musicians to no end.

   ^ but real talk you can’t make music for the people, if you are not off the people. This is especially true in Hiphop rappers pride themselves of the “I am better than you” train of thought. Thats the conflict right there.

   There are some rappers that are still talking about social commentary but they’re not selling….I hear people say “oh the times are hard so I wanna have fun, I wanna hear the balling song because it makes me feel happy and not depressed like other songs”……can’t really blame the rappers because there is a balance its just up to us to choose a side…..

    @Iceberg..Yea but your “I got out so you should too” mentality does nothing for the community also if after you make it out you dont go back and show someone else how to get out also…When I was 23 I was stuck in the hood cause that’s what I knew..the nigga that got his doctorate and moved to Florida never came back and said shit.

    What makes me mad is i see some of my old homeboys now and they like man sh@t is fckd up out here aint no work or nuthing, but these are sum of my same homeboys that would hit the club from thurs-sunday, while i was in graduate school or some of the same boys who would work a job here or there and just smoke all day, so now just because they woke up afer all thes years and realized that sh!t is real, we need music to represent these idiots….Aint no segergation in schools anymore, if anything most of these schools wont ur blck a$$ in there to boos there minority numbers for more state money….

    That would be the same as immigrants who come from another country and still make more out of the situration than americans that have been living here their whole lives.. Im just sick of us blck folk at times giving an excuse for every reason why we dont do sh!t, ninjas paying attention in school and doin there work has no bearing on if they live in the pjs are not, but what is is that most ninjas value system is focused on the fast buck rather that the long term goal, so blame the right thing instead of b.s like the “man” or wuteva, cause truth be told the ‘man” likes anything that makes money
