   In other news, the original “Freeway” Rick Ross has finally been released from prison after serving 14 years on a 20-year sentence. The former drug baron was arrested in 1996 after attempting to buy 100 kilograms of cocaine from federal agents. “It feels superman [to be released], no question about it,” he said. “Life is wonderful. I can’t say much, they got a gag order on me.”

   In the early 80s, Ross virtually monopolized the cocaine market in Los Angeles, making $2-3 million per week according to Allhiphop.com. However, his 20-year sentence was appealed after the San Jose Mercury News infamously outed the C.I.A. for its role in funding a Nicaraguan conflict by selling drugs to black communities.

   Ross has also made public his contempt for Miami rapper, and namesake, Rick Ross for taking his name without permission.

   “After seeing all the stuff that has been going on with the Correctional Officer that stole my name,” ‘Freeway’ Ricky Ross said to Allhiphop, “[it] makes me think back to a year and a half ago when we spoke. I tried to talk to him like a big brother and let him know to be you, and that he couldn’t be me.”
