He was the recipient of the best timing in the history of recorded music. GRODT comes out a year earlier or a year later and the reception isn’t the same. Em took 2k1 off to work on the D-12 album and do the Up In Smoke tour, Dre was working with Snoop and Xzibit.. And Jay, Ja, NaS and Diddy ran NY in 2002.

In 2004, I don’t see him getting the same kinda shine, not in the middle of the Jay-Z retirement tour (if he still retired in this alternate universe) and with Kanye, Twista, Outkast, and Usher making noise.

The game needed new blood and the music was undeniable. You gotta factor in him having Dre & Em on his side. That partnership and the fact 50 had the streets of NYC with his mixtapes, dude was gonna blow regardless.

But the timing was perfect, I give you that.
