Juelz Santana feat. Chris Brown – Back To The Crib [DJ]
Off Evil Empire & DJ Suss One’s Expensive Taste 2 mixtape.
YN & Info say it might be a single from his long-delayed Born To Lose, Built To Win album. Damn Juelz, you had me fooled when “Days Of Our Lives” dropped.

That’s all due to payola. The DJ’s are now suckas who don’t play what they like, niggas used to break records they was feeling, now it’s what they get paid to play.Bloggers post shit for industry favors(tickets, pics, autographs,a sip of Rose’,etc). Why cater to the internet when that’s where niggas dl your shit and take food out your mouth?
^
Because the younger audience 14-25 are mostly on the computer…i mean your basically taking a crapshoot tht the people who download it also will buy it…i mean i do but i kno many dont and if they have to cater to both…look at Styles hes dope stays on the streets doesnt sell…now look at somebody like Joe Budden…also dope but mostly has an internet presence but he doesnt sell either…its all about timing and proper marketing

dopest stands the test of time… what’s “hot” eventually cools off and disappears …
=================================
But what good is being dope if nobody knows who the fuck you are?
——————
its better to have a few great artists in the industry say that you’re great, than have every tom, dick and homo say you’re “hot” … Jay Electronica has enough well-respected cosigns … everyone doesnt want to be revered by the masses… thats usually only for the people that thrive only on attention, mas acceptance, and materialistic rewards … some people thrive off of being genuine artists and speakers of truth, and being true to their own ideas … fuck the masses… following the crowd or their wishes, is 9 out of 10 times detrimental to ones own peace …

mass acceptance > mas acceptance

He doesn’t really make commercially viable music either.
Make a couple of hit records & you’ll sell some albums.
Simple.

Biggie had a hot flow, presence and other qualities that made him who he was…..he might have fell off and he might not….Only one rapper has been “hot” for a long time and thats jay-z….the odds are are 1 out of a million for a rapper to be relevant past 10 years…

And it went Gold.
Styles is a Gold album artist.
Jada has Platinum potential.

I think the days of seeing niggas like Jay or Nas, who the streets respect as lyricists, crossing over to mainstream are largely over. you’ll get a few here and there, but they won’t touch the success of a Jay or a (chuckle) Nas.
^^^^^^^^^^^^
your probably right..but i dont understand the concept of being weak lyricist and selling more…look at Joe Budden he was respected as a lyricist he had a hot song(Pump it Up) on Def Jam a major label and didnt sell and that was 6 years ago when people bought music more often

sure they wanna be heard… but JayE (and Just Blaze) overstand that their kind of productions wont be marketed and moved by the indusrty movers and shakers, and apparently they’re cool with that … maybe they’d rather live in relative anonymity and subsist on their show money and other disposable income … everyone doesnt want to be rich and famous and be on the cover of XXL or Nahright … outward vanity is a female trait …

you and your fucking “multisyllable words”. that’s like your fucking “aggressive content” stfu with that shit already. that’s Boosie’s backhand way of saying nobody cares about New York rappers anymore. Andre 3000 uses “multisyllable words” and he’s considered one of the modern day GOATS, no?

Andre 3000 had a world class flow and other qualities that set him apart from the rest….him nas, jay, lupe and a few more are the only cats who can be lyrically hot.
But 3000 also knew how to make songs as well…something a lot of lyrical dudes can’t do.

I don’t think everybody wants to be heard by everybody in the world. certainly not a Jay Electronica or a Blu, who I’m sure both know that alot of niggas minds aren’t advanced enough to follow their wordplay/subject matter.
I don’t rap, but as a blogger I make conscious decisions not to post certain shit that I know would bring in alot more hits than I get now. I could start posting ever shitty R&B track that leaks, but that’s not what me or this site is about.

Why does it have to be vanity? Who says it’s about the fame or the riches? Why can’t it be a want to spread the message to the masses, enlighten cats on how good Hip-Hop can sound?

But it’s not like their going out of their way not to attract fans. Jay is just making the music he wants to make and let’s be honest, this dude is a special case. He’s not your average generic rapper.
He’s special enough to get that love from the masses.
