    Then it shouldn’t be a surprise that he loses some fans in the process, cause most of the cats who bumped “Reasonable Doubt” or “The Black Album” have never heard “The Joshua Tree” and never will.

    I’m not sure he’s really bothered about the Reasonable Doubt heads, anymore. He’s going after the people who buy albums recommended by newspapers now.

    Even the artwork has that sort of feel to it. Jay’s face has been on every album cover he’s done for as long as I can remember. BP3′s cover looks like it could be a Radiohead/ Coldplay/ White Stripes album. He’s making himself the rap equivalent of those groups. This is has the potential to be one of his most accessible album yet.

    Personally, I think it’s an interesting road for him to go down. He got $150 mil from Live Nation to tour. Best believe he wants every stadium he plays filled up with more people waiting to get in…

    For the record: I saw this coming when he did Glastonbury last year.

    Good eye. I think Jay’s trying to get some hipster cred like Kanye. Kanye got a lot of play working with Peter, Bjorn and John. After seeing bands like Grizzly Bear hit the charts, Jay’s broadening his horizons to try and reach some of that audience. Appear at a few of their shows and kids will think “oh, it’s cool to like Jay-Z now.” Smart dude.

    I paid for Jay’s music (except for BP3) and yeah, he sold out.

    And Mos does movies but he never compromised his music.

    nad being hood has nothing to do with selling out.

    Selling out has to do with compromising who you are as an artist & though you must give artists room to grow, this sin’t a gradual progression in Jay’s career. BP3 could be viewed as the album Jay jumped the shark.
