Video: 1515 Boys on Em Leading Hottest MCs Poll

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

via MTV:

Marshall Mathers has an army of supporters, and thanks to them, Eminem has risen to the top of the fan voting in our Hottest MC poll. With 40 percent of the votes thus far, he’s pulled ahead of Joe Budden and 50 Cent, who had been the leading vote getters in the weeks since we opened the poll. Now that those votes are being factored into this year’s official list, it seems fans are aware that the stakes are higher.

Due to the whopping 420 percent increase in voting, we decided to delay revealing the MTV News Hip-Hop Brain Trust’s list and let you guys weigh in. We’re encouraging everyone to continue to be engaged in this conversation and cast your vote for the Hottest MCs in the Game until September 21.

When the poll closes, we’ll tally up your votes for the top 10 along with the votes from the Hip-Hop Brain Trust. The official list of the Hottest MCs in the Game will be unveiled this October.

Vote here.

St. Laz – 32 Bars (Rhymefest Diss)

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

So apparently Rhymefest took exception to the re-use of a Kiss verse that originally appeared on his leaked song “What Up” on this  Jadakiss and Laz blend that Cookin Soul produced and so he started letting off shots in Laz and CS’s direction on Twitter. As far as I know, CS has already sorted this out with ‘Fest.

Laz? Not so much…

Says him:

P.S TELL RHYMEFEST STOP RUNNING HIS MOUTH ON TWITTER ABOUT ME,THATS LAME.

St. Laz – 32 Bars (Rhymefest Diss)

If you ask me, this whole shit is being blown out of proportion. Laz should’ve went out of his way to make sure the song was labeled as a blend, and maybe ‘Fest overreacted a bit to the “theft” of the Kiss verse. I mean, nowadays, once something is out there, there’s a good chance it’s gonna get jacked. I see all types of blends with no-name rappers on blogs everyday. Then again, he probably paid good money for that verse. But I guess all of that is neither here nor there at this point.

Video: Tony Yayo on 50 Cent’s ’40 Day’

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

“The mayor was saying he spoke to 50 and he agreed that it wouldn’t be a performance. Yo, I can’t get at the mayor. I don’t even wanna say anything bad about him — I don’t wanna get pulled over when I leave from outta here! But 50′s big, 50s bigger than life. Rumor is he spent over half a million dollars on this.”

“I know he has over 30 busses for Great Adventure on the 29th. To me, it’s a positive thing — it’s giving back. Just like how they did Baisley Park,” Yayo said, referring to Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson Community Garden, which 50 dedicated late last year. “Shout out to Preme, I know he in the Feds throwing up. He bought your park. When you got money, you can do whatever you wanna do.”

Video: Mikkey Halsted Previews Chicago: The Photo Album

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Says Decatur Dan:

My good friend Mikkey Halsted was just recently in Atlanta this past weekend finishing up on his current project “Chicago: The Photo album”. He invited me to the studio to preview some of the tracks and give my opinion on what should make the cut. Rebel 2 America is produced by No I.D. and got my vote to lock it in as 1 of the 12 tracks. Listen and you’ll see why.
