    Jay is from the streets, but his music has always reached a crowd beyond those that congregate on the corner. Word to Hov being a favorite among the independent chick crowd, HBCU students, and those who grew up listening to hip hop in the 90′s. His shit has never been especially dark, yet the streets still fuck with him. Ask any street dude whether or not American Gangster was geared towards the street and 9 times out of 10 they’ll say yeah, not “nah man that shit was a concept album made to go along with the movie”.
