Good music is good music.
Nothing subjective about it.
If you fail to see what makes it great, then you must be simple minded.
And that Christion album had it’s moments, but yeah, it was kinda boring.
That was a random ass reference too, but at least I can tell you actually listen to the music and have the aptitude to critique it. But to make glaringly uninformed statements like some of these cats…

^I’m not a Hove hater, I just don’t like his recent musical efforts. Some artists do eventually fall off. I don’t know why this is hard to comprehend. I haven’t paid money for a Camel purchase since the Black Album.

D.O.A was designed to fool the hardcore Hip-Hop heads.
^And that’s exactly the beef I had with it. Niggas fell for the okie doke. He made a track to shit on everyone else’s grind because he wasn’t gettin’ any attention. Then he pulled a ho move by “excusing” Wayne and Yeezy for using because those are his babies. Especially after Kanye received success from it (and 808′s is dope IMO, even though I hated on it before I heard it).
There’s actually some great auto-tune songs out there… some bad ones too… but some great ones. Instead of making DOA, he should’ve just did something totally different to make people open their eyes, i.e. a new instrument, sound, etc. I don’t like when he did that.
And some of the local artists from his own city was gettin’ CRAZY spins on the air in his own town and he wasn’t, i.e. Webstar (and for the record, that Dancing On Me track is lava, for those who party/club it up).
August 18th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
i dont need no ambiguous niggas musically whispering in me or my woman’s ear to set off no relations … some of you niggas type the most childish assinine shit in regards to both music and getting pussy ….
^^^
i’m sure this wasn’t directed @ me since the maxwell debate spun into a war of words and i said absolutely NOTHING about niggas gettin pussy w/my comment regarding maxwells music.
i’m sure.
if it is tho let me just add that its always the mahfuka that has problems w/the opposite sex that read too much into some of my theories/stories/thoughts etc. and get in a sentive way to remark about it IN THE STREETS ALONE. so i can imagine what some of the PC squares on this site that have trouble w/the opposite sex feel about my opines regarding women. just to reiterate…..
i said maxwells music gets CLASSSY woman in the mood for love/lovemakin. in MY experience thas just the truth. it’s one of those phenomenons like denzels walk(no). my moms been talkin bout that mans stride(ut-uh) years before any broad i’ve wacthed a denzel movie w/echoed the same sentiment. maxwells music has that effect on women that listen to a variety of r n b. i pay attention to details like that cause i be on some serious womanizer shit. for the man that doesn’t pay attention it must be that you don’t got an angle on females or it took you a minute to secure a relationship. either way, this subject matter isn’t for little boys lookin pa nub.

Exactly!!! He has alot of great & timeless songs, but also has alot of downfalls! But because he is soo successful the reality of his body of work gets exaggerated in terms of how great it is! ^Once again prove that stans of Camel NEVER find any flaws with that nigga. Or if someone points out their own discrepancies toward Camel then the name-calling ensues… for apparently no reason. Emotional ass niggas.
All Jay stans act just like alike.

You clown niggas for floppin’ when they cater to what you want, you clown niggas for being successful when they do what everybody wants. Blueprint 3 is going to be a far cry from a Black Eyed Peas album, so plug it with a Tampon and keep it moving batty bois.

by the way.. on that jay n nas shit..
illmatic > reasonable doubt (both classics of course)
it was… > vol. 1 (nas is a classic, jay is almost but contains some filler)
i am = vol. 2 (both have real bangers, but imo nas got nas is like, nuff said)
vol. 3 > nastradamus (jay album got real replay value)
blueprint = stillmatic (both classics again, but nas won with ether)
godson >>>>>>>>> bp2 is 2 long 2 bad but it had a couple nice joints
street dis >> kingdom (even tho sd is one of nas worst imo)
untitled > ag (untitled is nas present for black people, nuff said)

I don’t know about everyone else, but this looks like a good line-up to me. Even putting freshman rappers like Cudi and J. Cole is saying a lot. He didn’t forget about the heavy hitter either. I think this is a good effort for possibly being his last album.

Jay is Jay…old or young…one of the best lyricist..why niggas so on to his shortcomings? the album aint even drop yet…let that be the decider, not graphic design with text and shit…
Nas fell off (no bias)
Nas is overrated contradiction of a rapper(IMO)
……
New Schoolers on Jay’s shit? Its questionable, but you have to hear it…wish Wale could’ve been on there instead of Drake’s mediocre ass..Cudi will most likely sing a hook..I think that Intro might be a sleeper…like I said tho, let it drop first
August 18th, 2009 at 11:26 pm

IF you want featureless tracks just go back and listen to History, Jockin’ Jay-Z, Brooklyn We Go Hard, etc.. All of which could have been on this album. He’s BEEN dropping hot shit. This album clearly holds the message of passing the torch as he bows out. G.O.A.T.
August 18th, 2009 at 11:42 pm

August 18th, 2009 at 11:46 pm
Drake or Kid Cudi can be labeled the new generation of hip hip but they will never have the lyrical skills of a Nas or Jay!
August 18th, 2009 at 11:49 pm
J. Cole and Wale are the only rising leaders of the new skool who actually got skills on the mic.
Currensy is dope but only slightly above average
Asher is ok
Hamilton is mediocre and random….but doesn’t even matter anymore
Drake is mediocre..kinda like a conservative Wayne and shit
Cudi needs to sing more than he raps, although his flow and catchy
August 18th, 2009 at 11:53 pm

August 18th, 2009 at 11:57 pm
The Blueprint was an album you knew every single line to, because you could play it over and over again (to this day still). Judging this book by it’s cover (and tracklist), I will just be a casual Jay-z listener from now on. No longer god-mc to me. Maybe I’ll be wrong when it drops, but if “DOA” and “Run This Town” are any indication, this may just be as disappointing as Vol 3. Not saying it will be bad, just not a classic.

considering most of you homographics were either infants or weenies in the 90′s…ya’ll need to leave that Hov/BIG/Nas argument alone. Jay’s body of work is outrageous no less than three certified classics…Reasonable Doubt…Blueprint…Black Album…arguably a top 5 album for eight straight years…Biggie flow wise might be the best sounding most articulate artist rap’s ever seen, no one not even Pac has a more incredible album than LIFE AFTER DEATH…with Hov being the entertainer, NAS is the best ARTIST rap has seen …ie the NIGGER album and GOD’S SON

I love that he brought on Alicia Keys finally, but at the same time put on J. Cole, Drake and Kid Cudi. With those 3 its gonna be some futuristic trend-setting shit which we desparately need right now. Jay cosigning these guys is a good look for them. I appreciate the symbolic element to it. Like he passing the baton…. Or at least i hope thats what it is
