Why is hip hop the only genre of music that has artists that can’t co-exist. There’s a bunch of bands and alternative artists that have huge fan bases with no competition but hip hop artists are fighting for 1 imaginary top slot.

Because unlike other major musical genres, hiphop is based on direct competition, going all the way back to the dj/rapper/breaker battles in the park. For better or worse, that creates tension sometimes. It also creates some of the most potent music, so I’m not mad at it. Plus its mad entertaining. If Toby Keith punched Keith Urban in the face, I might be tempted to start listening to country music off GP.

See to me, it works the exact opposite way. The fact that it was “of the era” essentially means that the song was timely, as opposed to timeless, the main qualification of a classic album in any genre.

And Allure is one of Jay’s best joints, I can’t deny that. “My First Song” was always wack to me tho. Like, really wack.

he will not be on the Oprah show, it was an interview for her magazine. She doesn’t support his music, just what he does as a philanthropist. She was though very smitten by him…so maybe in the future?? Would be great for HIP-HOP
