can-i-live-tee

“I’ma stay winnin rock the custom drop Bentleys, Never eat at Denny’s and party like Lil Penny – can he live?”

The Air Penny II might have dropped today, but UNDRCRWN wanted to take a moment to honor a different 90′s icon. Long before there were ever Kobe & Lebron muppets- There was one very famous NBA party crasher. To honor this very memorable sneaker release, UNDRCRWN pays homage to basketball’s most iconic marionette alongside one of Brooklyn’s finest.

(If you didn’t already know this, Look up the lyrics to “Can I Live” “Who Ya Wit II” and the back of the shirt will make sense!)

The tee is available in black, white, grey heather and royal blue- and will be sold in a very limited run. For purchasing info- please head over to UNDRCRWN.

Video: Rhymefest Interview w/ RubyHornet (Full)

Monday, July 27th, 2009

The full interview was split up into 3 parts. Above Rhymefest talks to DJ RTC about letting go of fear, leaving J Records, and fame. Here’s RubyHornet’s take on it:

Editing any Rhymefest interview can be a daunting task. Named a Twitter “must follow” by the LA Times, Rhymefest has a lot to talk about both in and out of the music business. We met Fest on a Wednesday evening in June, as he was recording a feature for Sadat X at Grant Parks’ studio just outside Chicago. Just a week before our interview, Fest announced that he was granted a release from J Records, and that his sophomore album, El Che, would be released in the coming months as an indie project. The anticipation for the album has been well documented, as last year at this time Rhymefest was dealing with leaks from the record thanks to a stolen iPod. Many in Chicago’s Hip Hop community have whispered that Rhymefest should have released his second album during that time to capitalize on the daily posting concerning the music. However, all of the talk was news to Rhymefest, who said during our interview, “all that s**t people talk, don’t nobody say it to your face.” A self-pronounced approachable guy, Rhymefest spoke candidly to us about the timing for El Che, his feelings on music (“I don’t like it”), censorship and much, much more. Sit back and enjoy as we present the uncut Rhymefest Interview.

Parts 2-3 after the jump. Props to DJ RTC.

Brother Ali Announces New Album Us, On Rhymesayers Entertainment
Minneapolis rapper embarks on North American Tour in support of album

Brother Ali‘s last album, the critically acclaimed The Undisputed Truth, was a landmark in hip-hop, an album that carried weight equally with critics and fans alike, an album of bold statements and bolder beats, politically and socially aware without being preachy. His new album, Us (out September 22nd on Rhymesayers Entertainment), is a progression that will make Brother Ali one of the most enduring figures in hip-hop; while still aware, Ali has turned his gaze inward, and started examining the human condition from the outside in. A profound personal glimpse into a vulnerability seldom seen or heard in music, Us touches on the strengths and flaws of the human condition, exploring drug abuse, divorce, homophobia and many more topics that most people are scared to touch in their own lives, much less on an album for the world to see.

As with previous endeavors, the beats here are courtesy of Ant, whose production work seems to be getting more soulful and lush by the minute. The guest appearances only accentuate Brother Ali’s strengths, with Chuck D, Freeway, Joell Ortiz and Stokley Williams of Mint Condition making strong appearances.

In support of the new album, Ali is embarking on a North American tour of epic proportions, enlisting the help of labelmates and collaborators Evidence (of Dilated Peoples, recently signed to Rhymesayers), BK One and Toki Wright.

Fans can get presale tickets here as of today.
