Good times were had at the 92nd Street Y last night. Rae told some great stories and gave some amazing insight into the Clan and one of the greatest albums of all time. The highlight for me would have to be when he broke down the shortlived beef between Wu and Biggie. One of the biggest and most dissapointing revelations of the night, was when Rae confirmed that Nas’ lazy ass didn’t submit a verse for OB4CL2 on time. Really Gnozir? I guess you were too busy wrecking your marriage. Rae made a point of letting us know that he wanted a Nas verse on the album, not just because it’s Nas, but because that’s what the fans want. He understands how important that shit is to us and how badly we want them to at least take a shot at recapturing the crack that was “Verbal Intercourse”. But nah, right? Gnoz had better things to do. That guy is on my shit list until further notice.

The whole hype behind OB4CL2 is just the title. He threw a remake or 2 in there to emphasize the point but we all know if he woulda came out with a new album with a brand new title it woulda got that Immobilarity (sp?) or Lex Diamond treatment. Im not doubtin it’ll be a nice cd but even Rae knows it wont be half as good as the original

OB4CL2 should be good in comparison to most of the Newer Wu albums.
maybe not the original. The intent seems to be on getting the Wu relevant again, not actually topping the other album. Besides Ghost, none of them have had any success for a while.
He probably thinks that getting the old fans hyped can lead to more Wu love all around… pause.

And although some might use the production credits as reason to get hype, just remember Busta Rhymes has been using the same type of prodcuers on his last few albums (Dilla, RZA, Dre) and no one’s gotten excited over him.

Nas didn’t get bodied on John Blaze.
In fact, that’s been one of my arguments as to why that track should be in the top 10 of greatest posse cuts ever and in the top 5 for most underrated tracks ever.
If you think about it, no one really came weak on that record. Even Joe was decent on it.
The only weak shit was Mack 10 showing up in the video as a Garbage Man and I call that typecasting….
