“As a Cubs fan, my friends and I frequently travel to ‘Wrigley North’ to catch games. This year, we went to the April 12 Sunday Night Baseball game. My friend secured good seats, second row just about on the left field foul pole. There were four of us, seats 5-8. We show up a late, just before game time (we caught the end of the Masters before heading in). Anyway, we go down to our seats, and there is a family sitting in seats 1-4. Honestly, the daughter, who was supposed to be in seat 4, was spilling into the area of the bench marked 6. Each of them looked like the spawn of Dom Deluise and Rosie O’Donnell, but blonde. When my friends and I tried to cram in, the daughter had the nerve to yell AT US for trying to sit there, and told us there wasn’t room. Clearly. Anyway, after shoehorning ourselves in, we proceeded to find out exactly why ’sconnies look the way they do. In the first six innings of the game (they left after 6!), the girl alone polished off the following: a bratwurst, a soft pretzel, a slice of pizza, fried cheese curds, and cheese fries. Just a couple experiences for the stadium that weren’t necessarily terrible, but highly indicative of the Oakland atmosphere: 1.) When sitting in the plaza level with friends, we all flasked the game up and were taking swigs as young men would. Course, within 10 minutes, a street-wise security guard pulled us from the seats. He tells us he is going to kick us out because the TV camera saw us drinkin from flasks. But instead of doing that, he proceeds to tell us ‘listen, i smoke weed too, so i’m just gonna let this shit slide. all i’m askin is that if you gonna keep drinkin, leave the seats and shout me a holla cuz i could use a free drink myself’

Maaaan the old Jack Murphy/ Qualcomm Stadium for Padre games was the illest venue growing up. I remember the rowdiest game I ever went to was the first game John Rocker came back from that suspension from saying all that dumb, racist shit in Sports Illustrated. I lived right above the hill, we’re all just drinking and smoking because it’s a Friday and decide to just head down. Smoking a joint all the way up to the entrance, pounding beers right at the entrance…shit was insane. As soon as we sat in your seat my homie smacked a dude in a Chipper Jones jersey in the back of the head who was in front of us, little scuffle breaks out and we just dip before security comes. Then we just rolled straight to the bullpen…mad dudes in suits and walkie talkies eyeing us, and my other friend just throws a handful of peanuts at Rocker and we all got kicked out. Estimated time in the stadium: 20 minutes.

Another time we were at a game late in the season, Padres were in last place and I think it was the year the Giants went to the Series…so all their bandwagon fans filled up Qualcomm. Must have been like 80% Giants fans, and there were chants in the Stadium like “Padres Suck! Padres Suck!” and that shit was infuriating because we were drunk and getting heckled in our own stadium LMAOOOOO. Anyways by the 7th inning sitting in the bleachers, it got to a point when it was like me and 3 friends and at least a 100 Giants fans heckling us. We had enough of that shit.

Marquis Grissom gets done warming up in the outfield and throws the ball in the crowd to the Giants fans in our section but the faggot Giants fans had no hands and my buddy ends up catching the ball. Everybody justs starts booing the shit out him so he curl-hops and throws the ball back at Grissom and that shit went RIGHT over his shoulder. Then he called out like 10 dudes but nobody stepped up and we all got thrown out immediately. Hahaaaa…cops were like “lucky that ball didn’t hit him, you’d all be in jail on assault charges”.

I respect Nas for the fact that he has built up a core audience that will guarantee that he can go at least gold regardless of the climate and/or the type of music he decides to make. He hasn’t really had a contrived transparent radio attempt since that Ginuwine fiasco. He gets to make the music he wants and make a pretty good living off it and i think everyone has to respect that.
