We have to be aware or beware of the messages of consumerism and pacifism that dominate what we listen to. I mean the shit is getting ridiculous. I think we are being fattened up for the kill. No one is critical of an oppressive system.

If you listen to the music from back in the day that shit is incredibly radical compared to the soft shit thats being put out today. Conditions haven’t changed for people that much in the last 20 years to justify the shift in the music’s subject matter. I didn’t come up with PE, CUBE, PARIS, BRAND NUBIAN, X CLAN, ETC; so now I’m listening to this music like what the fuck happened. I listened to “To The East, Blackwards” I was like what the fuck sun, that shit was put out on Island/Polygram. Granted the message is dated but there isn’t any music on that level of militancy being produced. There are a few, (CURT@INS, DEAD PREZ, NYOIL) but not many. Now a days it’s like we’re stuck on stupid.
