The Recession >>>>>
It was the Cuban Linx, Fear of a Black Planet, and Madvillany of 2008. I’m not saying its on par with those albums in terms of quality (but its close), but it was similar in alot of ways. Chaotic production, revolution-esque content grounded to the street, and really only reveals its true genius after multiple listens. I’m dead serious.

I know right? But considering the Source is still up (can anybody explain THAT?!?), I guess XXL’ll be around at least until that shitmag kicks the bucket.

The Recession = Ultra regular. I did kinda enjoy the album, but’s just songs on a cd, to me it had no direction. It was alright tho, it had a nice sound, beats was tight, but it’s not timeless I only listen to one song off that album (who dat)
July 21st, 2009 at 11:31 am
Shynes first album >>>>>
It was roughly 5 years ahead of its time. If it had dropped post -02 that nigga mightve kept NY from falling off.

I liked that song on shyne first album “commission” I think it was, I just know it was last song on that Cd

I have to agree that that’s probably the best song on the album. Jeezy’s rhymes are hilarious (”okay, you know its me, if you beat it, I’ll pay you double”) and the beat is batshit.
But I have to say that I think the album flows really well, and one thing I especially dug was that it bucked the trend of a much weaker 2nd half than first, if anything the 2nd half was doper.

The recession I found to be very cohesive, if a little long.
Though, me and my brother came to the conclusion that at the cost of being a better rapper, he lost his bamma-ish entertainment
