not at all. because the argument most of yall hold to is that the Wu has classics, but what even constitutes a classic anymore. No knock against artists that put out “classics” these days, but its more about marketability and less about the craft. If you put Slaughterhouse or Joe in the Wu era and switched the Wu into this era it would be similar… its not like the posse genre is real deep or expanding or anything.

I do think that all the emcees in Slaughterhouse are stuck in the wrong era though, I’ll give you that. But no way in hell could these two crews switch places and have the same results. Classic is classic. If Wu came out now, the movement would be the same.

Theres two things I would say to that. One is if Slaughterhouse were an innovator instead of a group that had the way paved for it then yes I think the results could possibly be diff. We will never know though… the other thing is the fact that most of the good hip-hop is relegated to E1/Koch, the internet and mixtapes speaks to whether or not (in this cae probably not) something is a classic. Wu wouldn’t get the momentum to make a classic because who wants to hear rappers battling about “imaginary emcees” or “real nigga shit” when theres a commercial rapper doing it over a beat thats better to roll to.

i’m not too sure about that. its totally different today. hip hop today is more focused on “who’s hot” right now rather than who’s actually good. Wu would have a much harder time making an impact today compared to back in the 90′s.

(peruvian to be exact) we get there before the crowd and shit, tossing back the aforementioned libation. we in there talkin over the music then the crowd starts to fall in like an hour or so later. i ask her if she like reggae music and she’s like “well not the dancehall, but i love barrington levy.”(roots & culture basically) so i’m thinkin this gonna be a cheers pub night. so it finally gets to capacity and clubgoers are clamoring for drinks. i grab another patron and guinness, tell her lets motivate to the lounge area of the club cause it’s gettin thick @ the bar.
we move, then the selector spins an MJ set. i look @ her and see fire in her eyes. first song is ‘P.Y.T.’. she asks me to dance and i’m like fuks yea. so we gigging. this mahfuka playin MJ complete w/all them buuuhlshit effects that them ‘itsthereal’ dudes was talkin about. which fuks our momentum uuuuuuup. i mean, i had to come w/crazy banter filler to keep that tail on me. so selector ends the lil set w/’beat it’. mami gets real frenetic w/it. i’m like cool. we good. then this mahfuka throws the blaring horns throughout the hook. i start *DYING* while tryna maintain my hip thrust and X’s 20 two step. mami gets self conscious and eases up off me thinkin i’m clownin’ her but alls i can register is them ‘itsthereal’ white boys on that ‘no DJ tags post’.

then the selector wheels up barrington levys’ ’sweet lies’! to make an already long story short……
