Wale Performing Chillin Live at dF’s Beestings & Nosebleeds

So, despite sub-par, overcast skies, quite a few heads still made it downtown to The Standard on Saturday for dubFrequency’s dope pool party event, Beestings & Nosebleeds. The main draw on this dreary day was DC product, and Interscope signee, Wale, and let me assure you that dude did not disappoint. The weather was cooperative enough to let the sun peek through for a bit of the show, and Wale performed three numbers to a really packed house. Peep dude running through the smash Chillin, featuring Lady Gaga, above and also Nike Boots below.

Hit the jump for Wale doing “Nike Boots”, cARTer and Dude Royal.

Video: John Public’s BHF Wrap-Up

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

John Public hits the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival on behalf of End of the Weak.

End of The Weak! Saturday (7.20.09) was an incredible day for hip-hop in New York, man. Once again, the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival took over the city and brought in acts like Pharoahe Monch, Styles P, Black Thought, Craig G, Brand Nubian, Dead Prez and many more. We chopped it up with Green Lantern about his new mixtape with Emiio Rojas, Styles P’s new book, talked conspiracy theories with the Brown Bag All-Stars, Eternia’s new album with MoSS (DJ Premier’s right-hand man) and caught on-stage a performance of “Simon Says” by Pharoahe Monch.

Video: DJ Premier & Blaq Poet – Ain’t Nuttin’ Changed (Remix) (Behind the Scenes)

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

In anticipation of Tha Blaqprint dropping June 30 on DJ Premier’s Year Round Records, we get a sneak peak not only at the making of the music video for the “Ain’t Nuttin’ Changed Remix” featuring MC Eiht and Young Malay, but also into the making of the album as described by Blaq Poet and DJ Premier themselves. Shot on the west coast, the good folks at Year Round Records give us an early look into the making of the video with behind the scenes footage of Poet, Premier, Young Malay, and MC Eiht doing what they do best. From there, we hit the studio as Premier and Poet talk up the album, giving fans a taste of what to expect, including the dope guest artists and some insight on how the project finally came together. Tha Blaqprint will be available June 30 via Year Round Records and Fat Beats Distribution.

Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” Artwork (Final)

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

best-i-ever-had-itunes-revised

They revised the previous artwork, that was deemed too obscure, for the single’s arrival on iTunes. Download Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” here. It’s already #3 on iTunes’ Top Songs of the Week, behind two Black Eyed Peas cuts. So you know, make it do what it do.

Artwork by Darkie, who brought back the theme from So Far Gone.

This week was also the debut of Young Money’s “Every Girl” on iTunes.

Not performing together, I wish.

Styles P comes through to the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, and shuts it down with one of the best performances of the day. The whole crowd was into it, he went through a bunch of songs a verse here and there to give the a diverse performance.

Hit the jump for Monch. Props to B Conscious, spotted at Meka’s.
