I wouldn’t use the word jealousy here, but he certainly does sound mad that Interscope didn’t put up 2 mill for him.

Shawn Chrystopher – Untitled

untitled

Here’s the first single from Shawn Chrystopher’s A City With No Seasons.

The reason why the song is untitled is because it’s a love story, and I felt if I gave the song any kind of “love” title it would already be looked at as ‘cheesy’ and ‘predictable’ before anyone got a chance to listen to it. So this way, people get to judge the song solely based on its production and lyrics (as they should anyway). Sort of like reading a book with no cover or synopsis on the back, just you and the art. El Prez – Cop Trees

Here’s part 2 of BMUSE‘s last night of “6 Shows in 7 Days”.

More video from the Mountain Bar Show in LA on the 14th. Th final installment will be in your inbox by the end of the day today or tomorrow. Revolutionary Cali Muzik from El Prez and Basicali is new and will have a verse added by U-N-I when it’s finished.

Outasight was actually supposed to perform at this show as well but I heard there were some issues that kept him off the bill. Here are some shots from El Prez, Tunji, and Tiron. All three of these guys are putting out quality music. The Los Angeles scene is looking deep and is a force to be reckoned with.

Hit the jump for some more cuts from El Prez, TiRon and the homie Tunji.

Video: Rick Ross Announces His Next Two Album Titles

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Rick Ross is working on album number four, and the title is Teflon Don. The Bawse told us exclusively in Atlanta during the Birthday Bash concert that it’s only right he reflect on his bulletproof success on his next project.

“You gotta understand, I feel like I overcame so many things,” Ross said before he got onstage for the show. “Not only in music, but in my everyday life — being a young black man, being an entrepreneur, being a father. I learned a lot of things. I’m turning right around, putting it back into music. It’s still a lot of things I deal with. Still a lot of negativity. That’s what it is, and that’s why I feel the title of my next studio album is so appropriate.”

Ross said we’ll get the CCC (Carol City Cartel) album Custom Cars and Cycles before his solo record. The collective just put out a remix video for “Yacht Club,” and the official single is coming in July. Deeper Than Rap is far from done, though. The next official single is slated to be “Maybach Music 2,” and a video will be ready as soon as he can get T-Pain, Kanye West and Lil Wayne’s schedules to line up.

I heard something about a remix to MM2..

Kanye West x Spike Jonze Debut “Nightmares” Short Film

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Last night, Kanye West surprised the audience at the Los Angeles Film Festival with the debut of the short film We Were Once A Fairytale, directed by Spike Jonze. What was initially supposed to be a music video for the 808′s & Heartbreak track that now has a mind of it’s own:

In the film, Kanye plays himself drunk at a club acting belligerent and boastful, telling starstruck club-goers that the song playing in the club is his. He wanders into a side room where he encounters a beautiful woman. They start having sex and then he passes out on her leopard print dress. When he comes to, he finds himself in the VIP room with his pants down – he was hallucinating and fucking the pillow. The realization startles him and he rushes to the bathroom where he vomits what look like rose petals.

Then it gets weird.

Kanye finds a bowie knife in the bathroom and cuts into his stomach, spilling a torrent of more petals. He digs in the knife deeper and then with his hand rips out a small furry rodent, like a demon, only its quite cute. When Kanye realizes it’s connected to him with an umbilical cord, he pulls it hard, ripping it out of him for good. He then puts the demon on the sink and hands him a tiny bowie knife to fit the critter’s scale who then uses it to commit hari kari.

They go on to say that the video takes what people like and hate about Ye’s persona and pushes it to the limit, the video also “walks the fine line between self aggrandizement and self mockery.” The piece also mentions that the song has beens remixed (sort of like Paranoid was) and that it was done by Spike Jonze’ brother, Squeak E. Clean of N.A.S.A.
