I don’t know b, I don’t think those rules really apply anymore. I go to a hip-hop show and 85% of the audience is white, then I drive through the hood and I see 5 black kids on skateboards.

In 10-15 years in my mid-30′s I will still be listening to rap…I’ve said this before Blacks are forced to grow up too fast because WE put an expiration date on everything including rap.
what do you suggest a black male from the inner city in his thirties listen to?

I would Skate/board/BMX it up as a kid like crazy.
June 30th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
>>>I used to skate and there were plenty of hood black and latino dudes who skated, trust me. P and them definitely mainstreamed it, but that culture has been around for over 15 years.
^^^Co-Sign, I skated and roller bladed GOOD too…I admit sometime niggas would try to play you and yell “cowabunga” or some shit but it was definetely always a staple in NYC since I could remember ESPECIALLY IN CENTRAL PARK…but Detroit, niggas would try to play you EARLY.
skated since “94″, and bike stunted on my Dyno

Who didn’t have a skateboard or a bike? That ain’t “white”…that’s being a kid.
So “real” black kids are only supposed to play basketball? They don’t skate or BMX? Fuck outta here.
^
That’s not what i’m talking about. White kids rap and listen to Hip hop but that isn’t their culture, they are the minority in it. Hence why we are the minority when skating and such, or at least was.
^^^
But what did you mean by “white” black kids though? That sounded like an overarching way of grouping people and that isn’t fair. You basically said that the kids who participated in these activities were the “white” ones. That’s an unfair sweeping generalization

well, the white kids in grade school definitely put me on to skating, but it wasn’t just a white thing, and this is late 80′s early 90′s I’m talking about. minorities were definitely the minority in that culture (see what I did there) back then, but like Fux said, those lines were blurred a long time ago.

And just to be clear, when i said “white black kids” i didn’t mean cause they spoke proper, i meant because they participate in things white kids typically do…ie slang, drugs (yes we do different drugs), clothing and music….
And i don’t give a shit if you know of 2 black/hispanic kids that trip on shrooms or acid, it’s not something you will typically find amongst the urban community
So breath easy…

You don’t make money solely based on content. You make it on ads. Once your ads pages/revenue get cut, you’re screwed. Doesn’t matter if you’re online or not. You generate page views = paid. That’s why a lot of magazines are going heavy with the web content right now because no one is going to shell out 4.50 for a magazine.
Unless you have a beast behind you ie. Conde Nast or Time, you’re in trouble.

Dear Dre,
I think your missing a word or two in this poorly constructed sentence.
“After the jump, Game talks about MJ reaching out to Farrakhan the beef with 50.”
No offense good sir, but did you even read that sentence before posting? You could have said, “reaching out to Farrakhan about the beef with 50.” That would have made more sense. Please step up your game Dre. Your writing is getting alot worse than Nation, which is pretty sad. You’re not even trying anymore. If you need help, please reach out and I’ll do my best to make nahright readable.
Stay close

No offense to anyone on Nahright, but this site is not the equivalent of an online magazine. This is a blog. There’s no features. There’s no interviews. There’s no writing – period. There is no original content on this site. Eskay does an amazing job. He has the best hip-hop blog in the world. But even if they did decide to produce original content, the writing on this site isn’t exactly magazine worthy. Dre and Nation really can’t write. That’s not even a shot. They are young and do a good job at what they do. But they have no journalism experience. They couldn’t write for Vibe. Let’s not act like Nahright is just like a Vibe or XXL magazine. There’s nothing online that can replace those magazines as far as content goes. There’s no real journalists doing credible blogs besides YN.
