Video: The Roots - How I Got Over (Live on Jimmy Fallon)
The group shot a video for the track earlier this month; the clip will be released in early July.
“How I Got Over” is a prime slice of the Roots’ socially conscious hip-hop, as Black Thought raps, “Livin’ with the police right behind ya / It’s always more than a slight reminder / we’re livin’ in a war zone like Rwanda.”
As for “How I Got Over” the album, the Def Jam project was originally due this summer but has since been bumped to Oct. 20. Among the tracks expected to make the cut are “Walk Alone,” the vintage R&B-leaning “Make a Move,” “The Day” featuring Icelandic vocalist Patty Crash and a cover of Frank Zappa’s instrumental classic “Peaches en Regalia.” “How I Got Over” is also expected to include a version of Cody Chesnutt’s “Serve This Royalty;” the singer-songwriter rose to fame in 2002 when the Roots re-recorded his song “The Seed” for their album “Phrenology.”
The Roots have national dates booked beginning Saturday in Tinley Park, Ill., as part of the Rock the Bells tour, in addition to their weekly jam session residency at New York’s Highline Ballroom and a residency in Atlantic City, New Jersey, starting in July.

yeah and I’ve always thought Shaq was the type of player who only gave 100% when it counted. Maybe with Lebron on his squad, Shaq’ll step up and go hard (n) one last time

“This ain’t for itunes/this ain’t no sing-a-long”
And yet, somehow, hova figured out how to make money on it. By selling it as a single. On itunes. In the top five singles.
Please no hypocritical comments.

Getting shaq at 50 is a good move, no one can guard him, and he had one of his best seasons last year, the man had a 42 pt game last season, he still got it, but he plays when he wants to, word to wade calling him out about his weight after they won the title
