bottom line, F&L was legendary, The Cool was just very very good, so cats couldn’t handle following-up a classic with an album that was just “very good”
look yall nobody expected nas to follow-up illmatic with another illmatic
“it was written” was a suitable follow-up that didn’t try to be something it’s not
that’s The Cool – a good follow-up to an album that’s basically impossible to top
btw that’s why yeezy has remained so relevant – he didn’t try to follow college dropout with college dreopout part 2 – that shit is impossible! the best you can hope for is to follow-up with a very good album that your core audience will enjoy
i think most people who fuck with lupe feel that The Cool was very dope

I agree with this, but I can understand what you mean land.
I felt like F&L ended up being a rushed afterthought of what Lu intended because of the leak & there were some songs that didn’t make it to the final that really should have been on there. I don’t really think that Lupe will make another album like it. Lasers will be more like the cool, I would bet.
