Video: Z-Trip on The Jazzy Jeff Incident
So you may or may not have heard about this recent incident in Kansas City at this venue called the Power & Light District in which DJ Jazzy Jeff was told that he couldn’t spin Hip-Hop and he stormed off in the middle of is set. Well, FADERTV happened to be documenting the show/tour and they caught some footage of Skillz, who was tossed from the building, outside shortly thereafter, and DJ Z-Trip explaining the fuckery.

I’ve had this same exact shit happen to me…happens all the time to DJ’s. Whoever hooks up the gig is like “ahhh don’t worry, we want nothing but hip-hop played all night. Underground shit too blah blah blah. ” Two records in some old white dude who owns the place is on some “what’s this N****R shit you’re playing?” That shit is stressful…it’s like fuck, I can’t play these same Prince and Michael Jackson records all night.

The sad shit is that this happens all across America. People still hate on hip hop music like it was 1989. I DJ in San Francisco and have been told to play less hip hop and “more Britney Spears”. Get the fuck outta here. These token liberals make me sick to my stomach. No wonder San Francisco is only 8% black. What’s really fucked up in a lot of night spots is that the only Black people around are the bouncers and they are told by management to hate on their own people and not let the “riff-raff” in. As consumers, we have a responsibility to spend our dollars elsewhere and support our peoples.
