In my opinion a REALLY somewhat factual top 5 would have to be compiled by consensus of who SHOULD be there, not who shouldn’t. If we ask real hip-hop fans, such as ourselves, the majority consensus leaves Em off that list. That is non biased.
In reality people here are not saying em should not be on the list because he is necessarily wack, but because there are so many other MCs that should be listed first. That is why Pac, Big, Nas, Jay, Rakim are on top 5 lists most of the time. Ghost is somewhat interchangeable, but not as much as em

In ten years, if you put the Carter II in my CD player(if they still exist) while were going to the highway, after the Mobb, I would eject the disc, break it in half, and chuck it out the window on the interstate until it gets crushed into a bazillion pieces, and still tell you to put Illmatic or Reasonable Doubt (amongst over a hundered+ other rap albums in my CD player before you put that shit in there)
The thing is, 95% of rap fans agree that Reasonable Doubt, The chronic, Illmatic, OB4CL etc. are classics, where as the Carter II barely 50% of TRUE rap fans think its a classic. (Wayne stans don’t count to me as a true rap fan because most don’t know who the pioneers of rap music are)

You don’t realize that the Eminem Show was his statement album, he caught everyones attention on that one, The MMLP and SSLP were great, but they don’t have the replay value nor the emotion that Em put on the Eminem Show.
Tracks like White America, Sing For the Moment, Superman, Hailie’s Song, Square Dance, Business, Cleanin out My Closet, Say Goodbye to Hollywood, say What U Say, Till I Collapse etc. Albums BANGS from start to finish.
